I'm kind of hoping for some kind of cap to keep two chapters worth of Space Marines over running everyone. I plan on playing SM but I really don't want to out number everyone else to the point of ruining it for everyone.
It's not about Space Marines being at Plot Armor strength. It's about Guardsmen being Guardsmen, if they're squishy enough to die to one bolt shell? Sure have them in the game, else no argument you make will convince me it's a good idea as they DIE FROM ONE SHOT. No Super Guardsmen for me, ever period. I would very much like to see IG in the game if they are done right, they should play to their strength which is Armored Firepower supported by mass infantry. I REALLY want this to be done right because if it is I would totally play IG over any other race. My only issue is that I can't see the Devs putting OHK from a Bolter in the game for IG and even if they do there will be legions of casuals complaining and it will get changed and from that point on we have Super Guardsmen and they cease to be Guardsmen they just become reskinned Marines.
You right Tornadium, but i think they can be a method, who can introduce IG as a playable race, we just have to find it, but i'm agree we can't make Super Guardsmen, if we introduce them it can't be a Warhammer40000 game
Well IMO sacrifices have to be made to fluff in order to have fun gameplay. Space marine had some of the least fluff accurate weapons and gameplay out there, but it was fun and people liked it. I don't see why gameplay has to be sacrificed because some author somewhere writing wankfiction for the space marines says the guard are the Space Marines toilet paper. The Imperial Guard have on multiple times been shown to take a beating, (Hell in the game Space Marine they eat Orks for breakfast in chaos unleased.).
I don't know why everyone keeps making reference to Space Marine wank novels. Even the Guard lore and Codex/Novels back up that Guardsmen are utterly expendable.
Agree completely. They would just need to put a big ole warning up when someone tries to choose IG as a faction stating that bolters will kill you in one hit and that playing IG will be hard mode and require better teamwork.
They are expendable, but the regiments that are often talked about are not the regiments that are no doubt going to be included. The regiments that are the most popular are Cadians, Death Korps, and Catachan and all of these consistently make mince meat of Chaos Space marines. Hell Cadia has withstood chaos invasion for years without space marine help. And if the lasgun topic is still being argued, the lasgun issued to Kriegers is borederline lasgun with the power it puts out.
