Greetings. My name is Jonathan and I am new to the Warhammer 40K Universe. I am an avid MMO Gamer and I am looking forward to running around the battlefield with a few of my friends causing as much havoc as possible. I have played Warhammer Online for a short stint and I really enjoyed playing the Witch Elf so maybe I will play the Eldar. I do know the Chaos Space Marines look badass and I might end up gravitating to them. Looking good is half the battle.
I am about the complete opposite of you then. I have been a fan of 40k for about 15 years now, but i have never really gotten into MMOs, i can't even think of the couple i have played. Well welcome to you both, it is nice to see people still coming to this game even though it is early. I hope to either battle with you as comrade or slaughter in the name of my goal at the time. ignore the space puppies comment Chaos just want to have fun and watch the universe burn.
Hello fellow ex-Warhammer Online player! Fluff/Lore-wise: the Witch Elf--despite being similar to a twiggy Eldar--worships Chaos. Eldar abhor Chaos and are among the most pretentious beings in the galaxy (kind of like the High Elves in Warhammer Online). If you like the beliefs/motives of the Dark Elves; I'd gravitate to Chaos Space Marines. Then make a new character when (hopefully) Dark Eldar come out as a Faction in the future. Lore-wise, Dark Eldar and CSM worship similar deities (but--in proper Chaos fashion--they can't stand one another). If you like twiggy Elves in general (visual & in play style), then you should definitely give Eldar a proper chance. They will most likely be very tricky, using predominantly speed and ranged attacks (if the developers are using the tabletop game as inspiration). Regardless, the developers seem pretty keen on you trying out everything during the Alpha/Beta. So--if you get in--give whomever you want to try a fair shake. For a MMO gamer like yourself, playing to your style and looking cool while doing it should be your primary concerns--in my opinion. Lore (as AWESOME as it is) should be secondary. I wholeheartedly agree with SverBerntyer on checking out the Lexicanum for lore and inspiration. Depending on how deep into the lore you want to go; you might be surprised at what you find (plus, it might make your choice of Sub-Faction a lot easier)! I'm planning on playing a Space Wolf and Word Bearer as well. However, I'll probably mainly play Orks (Goffs) So... should I suggest you "Ferget dem stoopid 'umies and twiggies and join da WAAAGH!"? ^_-
