    I agree with Sergeant getting extra firepower to call too. Good choice to spice up support role. And I still stand by my orders suggestion to give buffs rather than the "casting" of Locks and Sorcerors. And considering it requires ZERO visual representation, that's a big plus for development.

    I think we should dance around Ogryns and Ratlings. They're cool, they're fluffly, and absolutely no one takes them on the tabletop because they're terrible. And in EC they would have the opposite effect of unbalancing an already strong faction. IG would be incredibly difficult to root out of a defense. Even on attack, provided with long sight lines, better accuracy and less noticeable damage fall off with high rate of fire would make IG a strong ranged faction. Adding snipers and the ability to also be the best in CQC with an auto firing, or even pump action shotgun, is frankly terrifying. Also the assets would be difficult to implement on top of modeling the "base" guard.

    You forget that Orks have 6+ base and guard have 5+ base while Eldar have the same T as guard. Guard can also upgrade armor to 4+ while Orks can only upgrade to a 5+ on most classes. And yet they're the statistically toughest race in EC. Guard aren't that far from the xenos factions and they do just fine in this game. SM are the only outliers with T4 AND 3+ saves, and they are the poster boys and the strongest and most popular faction and still manage to lose a lot of the time, so their toughness is not insurmountable as it stands, and isn't well represented in gameplay of EC anyway.

    You also forget stormtroopers are not Guard. Tempestus Scions, or Inquisitorial Storm Troopers are specifically a detachment of the Inquisition. That said, an inquisition army, like 40k used to have, with Witch Hunters, Storm Troopers and maybe Heroes of Ordo Malleus could be cool, but that isn't what this is about.

    Storm Troopers wouldn't be base guard. I assume we'd get Cadians if anything, meaning our veterans (with the exception of Sergeants who will just be Vet Sergeants) will be Kasrkin, the Cadian equivalent of Storm Troops. No invis. Just the standard loadout points.

    No, almost 100% of the guard in EC would be standard grunts. It's possible conscripts or "whiteshields" could be close combat fodder with the aforementioned sweeper shotgun, but compensated by low durability compared to other ground assaults. Even the CQC specialist would still be a ranged archetype. However, most guardsmen would carry a knife, possibly even heavies, and the Sergeants would carry chainswords. So with the current state of affairs + the shotgun, they wouldn't completely fold in CQ.

    People need to stop trying to reinvent the wheel on this one. New factions should be distinct, but still fit within the systems we have now. Especially while conserving assets to speed development.

    Let us go over some pros and cons related to any possible-to-add race...just for fun...

    Necrons Pros
    • Class Variety (Could be equivalent to LSM or CSM)
    • Distinctly Different from Current Factions (Different Focuses and Abilities)
    • Defined Strengths and Weaknesses (Slow, tough Units that can get up after death but lack higher function per soldier)
    • Tons of Options for Cosmetics (For some classes but not all)
    • Obvious Elite Variety
    Necron Cons
    • Lacks Weapon Variety per Class (Most Necrons have 2 options: Gauss or Tesla)
    • Resurrection Power could be hard to balance
    • Weapon Strengths would be VERY hard to balance (Tesla weaponry is potentially OP due to chaining)

    Dark Eldar Pros
    • Decent Class Variety (Not as much as the Adult Diaper Faction I hear people whisper about)
    • Distinct Weapon Focuses (^)
    • Mechanical Focus on Special Equipment (Poison and other Dot are done by DE better than anyone else)
    • Gruesome Cosmetic Options
    • Fastest but Weakest Vehicles (An easy balance)
    • Coolest Elite Option (Incubi)
    • Not as cowardly as the Adult Diaper Faction
    Dark Eldar Cons
    • Too Similar to Adult Diaper Faction (Same primary Strengths and Weaknesses)
    • Potential to be extremely OP (Think Adult Diaper Faction but faster and tougher)
    • Unlikely to receive the Open-Topped Vehicles they are most known for

    Tau Pros
    • Distinct Combat Focus (Ranged Combat)
    • Distinct Weakness (Melee Combat)
    • Possibility of Subversion Mechanics (Snare Traps, Drones, Energy Shields, Markerlight)
    • Possibility of Race Variety for Classes or Elites (Kroot, Vespid, Fire Warriors)
    • Teamwork-Emphasized Mechanics (Markerlight, Volley Fire, etc)
    Tau Cons
    • OP in Ranged Combat
    • Unlikely to get Battlesuits which is a Primary Faction theme
    • Lack of Cosmetic Options (Fire Warriors don't really look unique)
    • Vehicles are both Strong AND Fast (Puts the Adult Diaper Faction to shame...well more shame)
    • Stealth Units have Jumppacks...need I say more?

    Adepta Sororita Pros
    • Simple Class Structure similar to LSM (Tactical, Heavy, Jump. etc)
    • Decent Weapon Variety
    • Potential for Tons of Cosmetics
    • Well-Balanced in close and long range combat
    • Elite Class Variety
    Adepta Sororita Cons
    • Too Similar to LSM faction (Including Vehicles)
    • Allied with Current Faction (LSM)
    • Signature Weapon not yet/ever in-game (Flamer)

    Astra Militarum Pros
    • Variety of Sub-factions (Cadian, Death Corps, etc)
    • Veteran Class Variety (Tempestus aka Storm Troopers for you low-gothic folk)
    • Weapon Variety (Lasguns for daaaayyyyyyssss)
    • Many MANY Cosmetic Options (Sub-Faction Unique ones)
    • Elite Variety Potential (Depends on how they decide what is Elite)
    Astra Militarum Cons
    • Allied with Current Faction (LSM)
    • Troops are weak individually (Think Adult Diaper Faction without the speed)
    • Impossible to highlight theme AND be balanced (Vehicle Focus)
    • Lack of Class Variety...maybe (Guardsmen are just Guardsmen)

    Adeptus Mechanicus/Skitarii Pros
    • Class Variety
    • Unique and Awesome Weapons
    • Cosmetic Potential is...epic (Cybernetics)
    • Balance of Close and Long Range Combat Skill
    • Under-represented and therefore severely needing to appear in a video game....
    Adeptus Mechanicus/Skitarii Cons
    • Allied with Current Faction (LSM)
    • Lack of Elite Variety
    • Impossible to represent Vehicle Focus
    • Heavy Potential of being OP (Tesla Rifles man...always Tesla)

    Chaos Daemons Pros
    • Class Variety...maybe?
    • Power Variety
    • Possibility of Unique Mechanics (Summoning, Warping, Possession, etc)
    • Thematic and Cosmetic Variety Potential (Same as CSM)
    Chaos Daemons Cons
    • Allied with Current Faction (CSM)
    • Unstructured and therefore difficult to implement
    • Why are they capping objectives and besieging walls?

    The simple fact that all of that is pretty much impossible for EC unless the playerbase somehow manages to increase 100 fold. The current dev team just do not have have the means to do much unless it involves very simple modelling work or recycling of assets.

    In order for new stuff like more races EC needs to be worth it for the devs and in order for EC to be worth it to get the players in, it needs a ton of work that they don't seem capable of with how small the current team is. It's catch 22 unfortunately.

    Nice post though, maybe if it came up in early alpha there might of been a chance but any hope for it now is just pissing in the wind.

    By the way, it sounds like from a lot of posts that EC is in trouble of dying out quickly. I sure hope not considering its the only 3rd-person multiplayer WH40K game. It just seems like a game that should have been around for years. Just because its still getting developed isn't a reason for players to stop playing. Hell, the more we support it and get others in the more stuff they will be able to add. . . theoretically.
  6. I parsonally find it difficult ta' keep playin' dis game wen I 'ave so many uvva' options wut seem moar fun and feel moar rewardin'. Da only fun be playin' wif hearties, and dat don't 'appen all too often. Mayhaps once er twice a week on weekends

    The biggest problem I keep finding is that many of these factions are already aligned with the Imperium. Therefore any matches where two Imperial factions fight each other will break canon too hard, and won't be okayed by Games Workshop. Many of the others are strictly aligned with Chaos, which while not breaking canon could still cause issues. That's what makes it so hard to implement any other factions in this game, UNLESS they add them to already existing factions. Like changing Space Marines to The Imperium, and Chaos Marines to just The Forces Of Chaos.

    Just Allow people of your faction to cling to the side like JPA can cling to a wall . but obviously not on a timer like they have ,and just ride along like that ... it's basically what they do on those things anyways.

    and they also have a sort of possed unit , so BE can slap another powerfist on a melee elite and sell it for 25k. ^_-

    You forgot to mention Wyches for Dark Eldar - half-naked hawt alien chicks. Basically, this single "pro" would be enough to implement this faction in-game :D

  10. I don't get it why people consider X being allied to Y a problem. Just let's not have X vs Y battles then.
