Zzap only really useful for anti infantry sniping imo. I find the kannon far superior once I learned how to actually use the thing. Plus with kannon I have a chance of actually defending myself. Zzap should get reworked into a lower dmg snipy weapon with slightly varied shot trajectory Imo.
For a single Tactical marine to down a vehicle in 2 seconds they have to use up their meltabomb/both krak grenades, and be directly on top of that vehicle. Devastators need one full burn, still within essentially melee range. They also are fucked if someone gets out and starts hitting them in the face. Last time I checked the lascannon has an effective range of "across the fucking map". Which puts you firmly out of range of all except other lascannons or people hunting you down because you are killing their tanks. We get stunned if ork or CSM vehicles bump us, stopping the melt, and outright killed when Eldar vehicles do it. You don't want your vehicle killed? Drive it away, drive it right the fuck over us, and don't get stuck on rocks.
So you're argument is that our best option is the same one you have, but your addtional options don't affect it at all? See attached video. You can clearly see people shooting at him. With the power klaw, you CANNOT move while using it aside from a small shuffle. You physically cannot get out of the way, or cancel an animation. So the point about being defenseless if you're shot at goes double for us, because using the melta gun doesn't lock you in a 3+ second animation.
Tank number one is manned with at least two people, neither of which start driving. Tank number one is also getting shot by his teammates behind him trying to use the turret to kill the melta. Tank number two takes a full burn plus his bomb to kill. Having watched someone melta the shit out of the first tank (and helped him do it), they also don't fucking move and try to gun him down with the main turret. Same goes for the rhino that came last. Every one of these guys acted like Melta Tacs work on T-Rex rules. It's pretty simple, if it has wheels, keep it moving. EDIT: Also when I meant someone hitting him I was not talking about bullets. Melee cancels out the melt beam. If you aren't going move the vehicle, get out and melee him.
Tank #1 dies in 4 seconds from the time the melta bomb is placed. The way melta works is a DoT is applied. Coupled with the fact that it takes about a second to switch seats it wouldn't have mattered if they could teleport. They'd still be dead. Against a klaw, it would have A) taken about 10-12 seconds to kill it, assuming you suicide into it. B) guy shooting at him would have ether forced him to disengage or kill him because of animation locks. and C) The additional time it takes for the klaw to kill the tank would have given the drivers much more time to do something, though to be fair the klaw would prevent the tank from running away but that's why B) is a factor here. Tank #2, is being shot at by a rhino. Rhinos physically cannot damage tanks. 20 rhinos could be shooting it for an hour, and nothing would happen. Tank #3, He didn't even use his melta bomb on that one. And it was being shot by a predator, and you can clearly see in the video the predator did maybe 10% damage. Furthermore, you're also totally missing the point of my argument. I never claimed it was impossible to beat melta, I simply said orks have no way to compete with it. Those are two different arguments and I think you've misunderstood that. But I do agree that those LSM players were bad. But again, that's not the issue being raised here. The issue is that the ork anti-vehicle weapons are objectively inferior to other factions.
Hell, 5 minutes ago I was hating this game. Then I've read the article, looked at the Ork mega-tank, and now I'm screaming like a 13-yo girl at Justin Bieber's concert.
They're so good they wreck vehicles that aren't even in the game? Sorry. I do kind of agree they overperform, but if you take away their ability to deal with vehicles fast they'll be quite useless - taking your time while trying to destroy a transport means you get a squad of enemies spawning on you. I don't actually know if Orks have anything melta-equivalent in the lore/tabletop. Maybe if there was a "Looted Meltagun" or something found in the lootboxes?
