"Being difficult"? Debating a lore point is being difficult? You can't have an asymmetrical class system and still have the game balanced. There is no reason for Tactical Marines to have advanced close combat weaponry when they have combat knives. Assault Marines fill that role. (Replace Tactical Marines and Assault Marines with your race equivalent).
Will the classes be distinctly different, different weapons, unique skill sets that take a long time to unlock? Or are we dealing with simply swapping your loadout over and you're a different class?
No. Being difficult as in the conversation pretty much went like this: "Should Tacs get chainswords?" "No" "*insert my post something about being basic weapons*" "Yeah but no" "But why" "I DON'T NEED TO EXPLAIN TO YOU OMG IT'S SO BASIC LORE" It's like jeez, sorry I even enquired.
Let's not forget that at the C2E2 expo, Miguel Caron briefly says "...if you want to play as a sister of battle or an eldar female..." I think Tau is going to be added without a doubt, probably the next in line to be added, but this isn't for a while. I'm pretty sure they said that they are not announcing anymore factions and races until after the games launch, so we have plenty of time.
It's odd how quickly the popularity of armies rises and falls with the release of new codices. Before their last update, the Tau were fairly weak (on the TT) and very few players bothered to field them. Now people are talking about adding them to a 40k video game? I feel old.
Haha I hear that. I suppose it's not all that different to the models themselves. Had a mate in NZ just pick up gaming for the first time in 20 years solely because his sister showed him the Deathwing Knights.
