You're right. [For PVP] PVE is very different though. Not sure if you've played "Space Marine" before but thats basically how they'd be used. If you look at my post I gave a few ideas about IG. And they can also be used on the Assault Fortress PVPs as extras. AI units. But it takes a lot of work and balancing to implement that one so thats why Devs said NO.
They will eventually have to add AI enemies if the population keeps dropping and they don't want to just pull the plug. But yeah, IG are cannon fodder, but Ork boyz are not exactly equal of a Space Marine either. Not even Eldar are. Yet in the game they are fairly even ground. The lore is already out of the window, so adding Stormtroopers, Karskin, Tempestus whatevers, would not be any more silly than an ork shoota boy 1vs1-ing an Assault Marine. That's why I did say in early Alpha that Ork PCs should have been nobs by default. Elites could have been the nob squad leaders.
IG is viable. Just make em the only faction to place deployable drop-beacons, barricades, mines, and heavybolters/autocannons/lascannons. Make em be able to call in basilisk strikes, let em start out as IG hardened vets, reduce respawn timers, Ogryns for ground assaults.
they're not even able to get in a few weapons in less than a month or two so we'll probably die of old age before any new factions are completely added tbh also nobody noticed he said "lemon russ" lmao
TBH, the best for this game would be, if same faction battles (especially LSM vs LSM) would be possible and not a new faction.
Some time ago, there was a poll for each faction's 5th subfaction. For each poll, there were 3 choices, which means there are 2 subfactions for each faction that have somehow been worked/researched on. Can't remember what the choices were for the other factions but I can tell some people on the LSM side are waiting for the Raven Guard and Iron Hands.
Yeah and I was thinking that they'd eventually put innate special stats for each Legion. +5-10% Fuel Regen for Raven Guard or maybe +5 Toughness to Imperial Fists once game development progresses. But I guess "Eternal war demands eternal patience" -Angron of the Ultramarines.
Eternal Crusade requires eternal drip-feed funding and playerbase silence. But it would have made sense, that each subfaction had its specific flavor aside from the color scheme, just like you said.
