@Njord-Halfhand This would be the very first time I do not agree with one of your posts. Those health bars have been my personal highlight to be honest. Before it happened quite often that I did damage to an enemy and I got the visual feedback on that, but the kill screen still told me he was at 100% or 80%. Those situations really suck, because I could never be sure if my hits did not connect due to a server thing or what the hell just happened. @Fiesty_Won I really liked that too. Did they turn them off? Would be nice to have both. @Ostrum Yeah, an option to turn it off would be a nice idea. And I also do not think that this is too bad for immersion with most factions, yes. (My post does not like tagging you ^^)
Not sure of some of you guys saw it but awhile back they had it on too but you had to be very close to see it and from a distance you couldn't see any bar only dmg
Lack of proper hit markers and lack of proper audio feedback when damaging enemies is the problem IMO. Health bars are the cheap shortcut to make up for lack of proper audio and visual feedback. If you hit someone with a sword you should be able to clearly SEE AND HEAR that you're actually hurting them without the need for a health bar overhead of your foe.
I don't actually recall CoD having a health bar, but I haven't played it regularly since Modern Warfare 1, but the TTK was so quick it wouldn't have made much sense. It'd be pretty sad if it turned out CoD did this system better, even in its better days.
I played fine before the health bars. Not like they will magically fix lag issues or make people better out of nowhere. I was already able to spot most vets without a vet tag and again the little red triangle of "shoot here to win" existed before. The only games this will effect imo is chaos vs lsm. Because those were the ones where telling friend from foe was difficult. Luckily I dont play marines much so this is an issue that doesnt really affect me.
I doubt anyone thinks it is a death blow, but it further chips away at the immersion quality and cheapens gameplay in the process.
I would prefer them to get removed tbh. Its not really a big deal, and I honestly dont care much, but it does change the way you play. Now, if after an engagement where the enemy retreats you see you were one shot away from winning, so you are more likely to just go all in to finish him off, while before you had no idea and sometimes would've stayed back. Its just information you shouldn't have.
Actually, I would concur with this. I often experienced that too. Now I can see when I connect and nothing happens (so lag) or when I actually do damage, so it's easier to gauge how to modify my shots/swings to make sure I'm compensating for lag. It was very difficult to do so before.
I find those bars disturbing. They actually distract from doing head shots if anything. I usually shoot till it's on it's fours anyway, I don't need no stinking bar to tell me when to stop
