So with the latest patch we can now see health bars over enemy heads. View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umDr0mPuyQc Are we 'using the force' young Skywalker and magically knowing the health of our foes? Granted vehicles have health bars, fortress gates have health bars(figure that one out). It's actually nice having some aspects of game play as being unknown. Are we just saying "screw it" to all and any chances of immersion, occasionally dealing with the unknown and the fog of war? Red blips on minimaps, red doritos over enemy heads. "Shoot here" "frag over there" is what all these red pointy, glowy things are saying. Now health bars over enemy heads. Perhaps soon our characters will just play themselves so we're not being so put out by having to think for ourselves and we can finally give up on trying to immerse ourselves in a virtual 40k universe. In the pic below "AI" should actually read UI. We really dont need to be spoon fed kills. I think we're good on the "how to find and kill" enemies department. It's fun to have to actually hunt our foes without mama UI holding our hands and pointing the way. We also dont need health bars rendering over enemy heads. While increasing user situational awareness is always a good thing, spilling the beans on enemy health and their exact locations, leaving that to fate and keeping that info unknown is a good thing IMO. We do however need some hand holding and more UI info on capture, match and win/loss dynamics. Half of the players in any given match don't seem to realize what objectives need defending and which objectives really need to be captured. Focus efforts in that department guys please.
Yeah, definitely preferred the graphical degradation of equipment as an indicator. This health bar thing seems like a cop-out to the cool graphical degradation of equipment.
This is some stupid crap. Did they have a meet about how to make it more toddler friendly? How to quickly lose your audience that actually has money to pay into your game. Time to go play Vermintide.
I'm pretty sure you can turn them off in the settings if you prefer not seeing them. That being said, with all the gadgets that the lore places in the helmets of marines (loyal and treacherous alike) and of eldar, I only find this to be at odds with orky immersion.
I actually sort of like it, as it gave me an indicator as it relates to how much damage I was doing. It should be optional though, for people who dont want to see it.
Doesnt matter now. You lose the edge they have when you can't see health like them, so to be competitive you have to use them now. Im with Psychopski. Damage should be visually indicated not by some omniscient health bar. Slowly chunking away the immersion.
Dont go apeshit guys. They very well may add in an option on the menu screen to toggle health bars on and off. It isnt like the old red and green triangles over our heads didnt already tell an enemy where we were before.
I think the health bar helps new players get a better feel for stuff... may be turn off health bars after first 30 games or something. Also a lot of experimental stuff gets added and removed...remember when no guild tags were there and we didnt have pugs insta quitting ? Stop behaving like entitled children and QQing for every little whim of yours.
