I clearly understand that Eldar are the least faction loved by the devs in this game and this thread most likely will remain unheard but this needs to be addressed. I have absolutely no idea why THIS aspect of Eldar animations needed to be changed - amongst dozens of threads concerning various aspects of Eldar (cosmetics, animations etc.) virtually NO ONE was complaining of their dbash animations - despite, just like everything else about Eldar, being shitty and absolutely unimpressive, their previous dbash animations looked at least acceptable and more less plausible - these new versions are literally terrible. The first version (applied to each class apart from banshees) is a cheap and mocking reminiscent of some early 90's Street Fighter games or Mortal Kombat, albeit extremely poorly made - really, when I see my SS swinging his leg high and sharply lowering it as if he tries to stomp his opponent into the ground I want to laugh and cry tears at the same time - dont you think there are dozens of more suitable for Eldar attack animations than this one? It looks extremely out of place, this is not some Tekken 3 game where you can suspend into the air for several seconds and make over 9000 hits with your feet. The second version which, if I remember correctly, applies only for banshees, is awful beyond comprehension - some Chuck Norris style, but it looks like a banshee is pulled by the strings by some invisible puppeteer, her movements stiffened, clumsy and completely graceless, just look closely when she performs a dbash - how her entire posture changes as if it's some wooden doll twisting in the air. At the same time, for some mysterious reasons, you remain unchanged our running animations which are, as it had already been pointed many times by many players, TRULY look awful and need a total fix: 1. Pointing your gun upwards while running - really, this doesnt seem strange to you? 2. Swinging a sword IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE while running - please, where the hell on earth have you seen someone running this way with a deadly weapon? Look at DoW 2 Eldar running animations, how they keep their swords lowered, close to the ground, so that they dont accidentally punch themselves in da face with their own blade. To sum up, this is beyond my comprehension why you change those aspects of Eldar which virtually no one was complaining about instead of fixing obvious and awful shortcomings which have already been pointed by many players.
Agreed. Though I believe the new DBash animation is live on several others units. I am fairly sure I've seen my Hawk doing the "stomp the ennemy's face into the ground with a roundhouse high kick".
I also believe that developers do not like Eldar. -Animation is a terrible, especially in the warlock -Cloak from warlock looks like a poly bag -Small customization -Hawk hawe one, and the poor, rifle. Other weapons are useless. Hunter's Mark need up to 65 points of damage - -Hunter's Mark need the optics (x2-6) -and much more
I like it, but it doesn't make any sense. Moreover, our DBash "stun window" is simply a point in time, while Marines is a short lap. I mean, you can enter the DBash area of a marine (which btw is WAY larger than it is displayed) after the animation occured and... Oh surprise, you're stunned! Wind up feels identical, recovery for Eldar might be slightly faster, although I'm not sure AT ALL.
I actually like them. I haven't looked at the Banshee one in too much detail, but it seems okay from afar. I've heard there's a slight delay before it activates, which is pretty guff. I would maybe agree that all the Heavy-Aspect-Armour-wearing classes need a less agile Parrying Blow. The Reaper one is actually pretty great. It's very well disguised, so I expect it to be hard for the opponent to telegraph (like the Ork headbutt, though not quite as good).
The actual style is fine. But the animation is terrible. The leg is dragged up and dragged back down. You can see that the model has just been dragged around, making the kick robotic and not organic. It looks like someone just grabbed the foot and pulled it around, like a puppet. Though they did fix the delay that ranged characters had, now I can open up on a Space Marine almost immediately after the kick. 1. Just as a bar of reference, Guardians in DoWI used to run like this as well . 2. But the melee run is pretty bad, I would prefer the sword to go behind the warrior, like DoWII:
The sword should unquestionably go behind the warrior. Like a ninja. In fact they could stand to make all of the Eldar movements considerably more ninja-esque.
More ninja-esque? Different strokes for different folks. - I'll just say, there's a dozen more interesting fighting styles and stances what to slap on Eldar instead of "ninja-esque". Please keep the high carry for rifle-class weapons. Though, both the swing and the hop in step is still too much. Also, the new DBash animations are terrible when compared to the old kicks, which were at least somewhat believable. No ,that dosn't look one bit strange to me. High Carry is a valid, safe way of carrying a rifle. You are not pointing it at your friend and many-a-operating-operator approves of this while. Of course you could have done your study and; 1. Looked at Eldar miniatures. and 2. Googled "Rifle high carry position"
