To be fair Ork guys...you may just not have melta for "asymmetric balancing" reasons. Not that I don't understand your arguments, nor necessarily 100% disagree, but I could see orkz not having melta weapons.
The problem isn't Melta or Fusion weapons, the problems are 1. We are 100% reliant on vehicles for Mobiles spawns and spawning near enemy held objectives. Attackers are 100% reliant on mobile spawns in order to carry out a successful attack. 2. It's all too easy to run around or drive around in a friendly vehicle and destroy all the attackers mobile spawns via Melta Bomb and Meltagun. 3. Once attackers are out of mobile spawns, if they dont own any objectives, the attack is basically over the opening 2 or 3 minutes of the match. 4. Lack of alternative spawn points for attackers and defenders. We're 100% reliant on vehicles. 5. The speed of the Fire Dragon makes them practically unstoppable. Two to Three Orks or Astartes guarding a vehicle cannot stop a Fire Dragon from suiciding and destroying their mobile spawn in most cases. 6. Melta Bombs are too cheap and Fire Dragons get two(last time I checked, if that's changed then disregard). We need alternative methods of getting around the battlefield. -Drop Pods -AI flown aircraft dropping off troops on rooftops or allowing Jump Troops to disembark over objectives. -Teleport homer for Squad leader. Intermittently allows players to spawn on squad leaders position. Activate = 60 seconds squad members can spawn on squad leader. 180 second cooldown. -Squad Teleportation(rare, Warlord ability, Squad Only ability, very long cooldown ability). Squad rallies at teleportation chamber in thier DZ. Squad leader activates, entire squad is teleported to a specific location. Once a match type ability or Warlord only ability. -Orkapults
Orks have something called Burnas(armory) that work similar to this and are flamethrowers to boot. Not to mention that Meks can Loot and Redo a Multimelta for ork use
I get it, but I'm talking more about the game itself then the lore. Truthfully, we all kinda have everyone's weapons in the lore, to a point. It's going to be hard to have faction diversity if we just give everyone, everything. I mean, that's why CSM got Plasma Cannons in the first place, which if constantly repeated doesn't leave much room for diversity. Ultimately, they're going to do what they're going to do of course, I was just sharing that I could see it happening if it's for the sake of asymmetric balance.
Every faction except orks has an option to take a transport/spawn point out in 1.5 seconds, except orks. Now that more marines have access to meltas, and are running around melting the trukks, orks are losing to them way more. Coincidence? The absolutely MOST important weapon in the game, and orks have no access to it. If every god damn game wasent capture a point, it wouldnt be that way. I could easily be happy running around with a melta, pistol and knuckles the whole game, knowing I was crippling the other team with 2 seconds of my time, but I cant. When I played a fire dragon in alpha, I would almost single handedly cripple the other team every game. Fly around in my floating ram, ram a transport, and bomb it and melta it. I was probably stopped 2 times out of 80 or so tries. I guarantee if orks had meltaguns any defense of these as healthy for the game would fade away quickly.
Would be cool if you were able to set up a teleport beacon or somehting as squad leader. I´d waste all of my LP on that.
