having had a chance to make noise by shooting at the tank implies you have already reached it, applied the bomb and shot it, congratulations! you blew up the tank and the melee specialist failed at protecting the transport. that you may think so or not is irrelevant to whether it has happened or not why are you allowed to say a person is bad at his job (beating a ranged archetype with a melee archetype before it blows up the tamk) while I can't say you are bad if you fail at yours (reaching a vehicle while staying away from combat as a raned archetype)? In no way I had the intention to cause personal hostility.
if you're really going to bring in the pointer as a relevant part of the effectiveness of this kind of weapon against vehicles I'm going to underline that the charge up of the zappkannon obscurates the player's view enough to make it really difficult to aim against moving targets.
Ok, well try using a meltagun at a moving tank... that doesn't work too well either. I play all the races and almost have all of them to lvl 3 now, plus I am a founder and have been playing for awhile anyway. The nice thing about heavy weapons is that they all can take down a tank and most of them are pretty long range. The meltagun is not long range, it is not even medium range, it is close range. Pistols can shoot farther than the meltagun. I can't think of a single weapon other than melee that has a shorter range. So yeah, it has to be damn effective once you get into range because your life expectancy is pretty short anyway just to get there, assuming of course the tank is active and/or protected. Many times as I close on a transport, people are popping out and wham, I am dead. Meltas are only effective on infantry if they don't move and don't see you and fail to understand what is happening. So while I can see why people think meltas are OP, if they try and use them they might find that it really isn't the case at all in combat. You give up a lot to specialize on tank hunting in close quarters. Far more than a heavy weapons guy that is using plasma, zap or lazorssss.
We are definitely at odds here on this. I guess we will have to agree that generally the map design does not support protecting or hiding your transports. On maps that I can grab a transport I will just troll around blowing up every vehicle spawned. It takes no time at all to do it and the attackers have no chance of defending their vehicle from it. On maps that I can't grab a transport, not an issue. I just jump over the wall and blow up the vehicle. It again takes no time at all to do it and the attackers have no chance of defending their vehicle from it. No one can hide from the basic tactical metlagun.
The Zzapgun is your only justification that Orks have AV? The weapon that takes a few seconds to charge, doesn't kill a vehicle nearly as fast as a melta/fusion gun, takes around 6-7 charged shots with cooldowns to take down a vehicle from full health, and is on a class that has no secondary weapon to at least fend off people shooting at you? And the only advantage a Zzapgun has is the fact that there's no laser, only a gigantic blue beam that marks where you are to enemies?
No worries i just need to bump this up whenever it isn´t on top. Your posts are just easy to use for that.
How many of them can kill a transport in less than 20 seconds of concentrated fire power? Literally, you just have to stand there...shot rocket, reload....shoot rocket, reload....shoot rocket, reload.....shoot rocket, reload. It takes around 7 kannon shots and around 8-10 rockets just to kill a basic transport. Compare that to a meltagun. Aren't you that plasma cannon troll? I have around 150 hours clocked in Orks. What level is your ork character? Do you even have any of these supposedly viable AT weapons unlocked?
