Yes, it does. I have no problem discussing criticism of gameplay elements, but saying 1 person can destroy 4 vehicles quickly that are guarded is hyperbolic, does not reflect actual gameplay, and not constructive.
Doesn't this seem to be a fair compromise in comparison to the Lascanon? A lascannoner WILL take your vehicle down almost gauranteed, it'd just do it from a distance and take a bit longer (Since odds are they will be hitting front/side). Heck, it might even do it faster if you consider the travel time, which a Lascannoner will typically have little of. Also, you are completely downplaying the downsides of the Meltagun. You are giving up Anti-infantry to deploy it. Any class can drive/defend defend a Vehicle. If we're losing one player worth of Manpower to hunt down vehicles, the minimum you'd expect to defend it is also one man. Besides, keep in mind that unlike the Meltagun, a vehicles value goes up the longer it stays alive. In your scenario, if it took 3 lives for the Meltagunner to down a vehicle, that's a pretty damn good return value for that one vehicle. All things being equal, that's 3 spwans worth of your squad. Meanwhile the Meltagunner was doing jack shit other than tie up one member of your squad.
Omg. I just check melta against Eldars. It literaly does 0 damage to troops. I emptied an entire clip into a shaman while it was standing still healing something and then some more. And it had like 40% when it killed me.
A full meltagun burn on a stupid, afk or inattentive guy should disintegrate them and always has when I've tried it.
As it stands there are only really the keep assault/defense maps where this really comes into play. While we defenders do get to spawn on the point, we don't have a limitless number of spawns so I don't see a problem with attackers being forced to defend their transports, especially with the ridiculously low number of spawns compared to the time given to capture. Besides, us melta gun users don't get to stay in the relative safety of the point, we have to run out in the open to knock transports out. We don't really have a lot of options to deal with any thing that crosses our path between here and there. Unless it's parked right outside the front door even someone manning the guns has a relatively good chance to stop us before we get close enough. I do agree however with the whole suicide rush though, a lot of the time if I'm hitting the transport with the melta and people hop out, I move around, make sure I get one overheat off and then drop a melta bomb and I'm pretty much guarantied to kill myself, anyone that just spawned or attacking me and the transport to boot and that just feels.... scummy, but what other choice do we have really ? Take transports out or lose :/
I did melt a few people. Most kills are from vehicle kills. Have the whole game on tape but it is not really exciting watching someone aim at tanks.
