I have to agree with Arbiterze here. Let's just hope that in the end people would learn, and not go repeating the means to get to the end that they want. Rest well Nelson Mandela, and hopefully you have found peace in the end.
Also bear in mind he spent close to three decades in prison. While some see incarceration as only punishment, for many others it can actually be what it should be (in my opinion), rehabilitation. He emerged from imprisonment to do great things and was a decidedly a better human. He never tried to exculpate himself from his actions earlier, only to move forward with his life. Anyone who thinks Mandela was a saint is mistaken, but I think he is certainly worthy of great respect.
also people forget that the people he surrounded himself with after election are currently the main cause of corruption here in SA
Nelson Mandela god bless that mans soul he was one of the worlds best know peace makers. He spoke his mind for his people and was imprisoned which only strengthen his resolve may he rest in peace and let us celebrate this mans accomplishments and his life
Well if you think of it this way prior to that they tried peaceful resistance and ended up with incidents like the sharpeville masacare and without his leadership after apartheid with things like the truth and reconsilation comitee South Africa would have ended up in a civil like the rest of Africa and living here in South Africa you see the effect of many of his charaties and orginasations and unfortunately he had to resort to violence but what other choice did they have you don't really judge poorly the polish or french resistance to the Nazis
Hey guys, this is a memorial thread, not a political debate. It's easy to condemn someone who can't defend themselves anymore. If you want to discuss Nelson Mandela's life and politics, please start a thread in an appropriate section of the forums or elsewhere. For now, have some respect for the dead.
