The latest incarnation of the Necrons has made them much more mobile. They aren't particularly fleet-footed, but they have a lot of transport options. That being said.. Necron troops don't really WANT to be all close-up and personal.

I really missed the Necrons in the Dawn of War II series. Hoped they added a Necron to use in Last Stand, like the Tau. Really hope to see some good ol' Necrons in Eternal Crusade.

This is good to hear, it gives me hope that some of the other popular races will be added too.
I for one think all the races should be playable even nids. (different hive/Zoat faction)
So I'll add my vote to adding the Necrons at some point. I'll play one as an alt, if done well enough it may become a main.

Perhaps instead of BEING one, they could just switch up the Tyranids with the Necrons. I mean heck, we have to EVENTUALLY get rid of those damn bugs.

I for one want them as NPC same as Tyranids. Unless they implement gameplay that allows a single player to control multiple automaton NPCs beneath him, i dont want to see a bunch of individuals playing as characters who work with a single mind.

Unfortunately, most of that backstory has been raped by Matt Ward in the 5th Edition Necron Codex. The awesome and terrifying Necrons that you knew are no more.....now replaced with the sadly comical Space Mummies.
May Matt Ward forever burn for his crimes.

Necrons have never been mindless automatons under the control of a single mind. Each warrior was capable of individual thought, which is one of the things that made them so scary.

I'm sorry even in the earliest introduction it was always implied that they were the 40k version of undead army lead by a litch. When Warhammer split the undead army into vampire counts and tomb kings, Necrons continued on as a futuristic tomb king army. Even in the 3ed edition codex this was the clear, and Matt Ward had nothing to do with it.
  8. True, but the way necrons are portrayed is different. Before they were more like terminators but now the terminators are lead by normal people who happen to look like necrons if you get my meaning.

Same, but I REALLY want the devs to focus on one super enemy at a time. Perhaps they could cycle from Tyranids and Necrons. Otherwise it would be to cluttered and for a HIVE fleet and TOMB world to open up/appear would be too much for such a minor role they are going to play.

i cant wait to play witchunters then. no race has more character and awe inspiring spirit than an inquisitorial army.

who wouldnt want to purge the heretic ?
