you will get used to it, us 'nid players have just accepted that there is no way we will ever get PC 'nids.
The irony being that Miguel actually said that Necrons are on the list of future factions, while Nids are set in stone as a PVE faction.
What customization could you even give them? They don't seem to have even enough characters that would be playable, balanced, and lore friendly. People often completely for get PvE is going to be more than a small part of the game like you have. The PvE faction will often take over areas and attack and harness races. PvE is going to be a part of the game and not really optional if you want to "win". It is going to get tying to fight only the nids and it will need to be mixed up.
In the end you're right, we can't dismiss the new Necron lore. But you can't honestly expect everyone to agree with you that it's better than the old stuff. It's subjective. I, for example, prefer the old Necrons and find them much more agreeable. qq By extension, I wouldn't want to see them be jolly good friends with the other factions. I understand that that's an overstatement, but I'm sure you know what I mean.
Cronty has the right of it, if GW released them as a playable faction, guess what, they will eventually be a playable faction. GW rules over their IP with an iron fist. And a Crimson Fist. And....
There are plenty of customization options available. Just look at the Wargear section in the codex. There are more than enough options that are playable, balanced and lore friendly. I'll just quote myself from a different thread: There is an interview with Miguel in which he states that the PVP/PVE balance will be around 85%/15%. And as I said before, as far as I'm concerned, it is a decided matter that Necrons will be a PVP faction and not a PVE one. Miguel said so in his 4chan FAQ.
Since the recent polls on a possible 5th faction has seemed to boil down to the Tau or the Necrons I've thrown my vote to the Necrons,
necrons and tau are must have as playable races for the future, also dark elder, and of course more chapters of marines and chaos marines and more factions of orks.
As far as I am concerned those numbers are rough. The better your faction is doing at PvP the more PvE you will end up doing and the same the other way. Depending what is needed they may need to have PvE play a strong role to keep factions in check long enough. With that necrons should be PvE to allow for it not to be so boring. We won't be happy with nids for ever. Necrons just make the most sense for a new PvE.
