My Opinions On Necrons (unless Proven Otherwise)

  1. Reanimation protocols can be easily done.

Like have a timer before they can come back up. And tie in squad mechanics by having them have reanimation protocols only if like classes are right next to each other. Necron warriors can only reanimate if there are other necron warriors withing a certain distance at the time of death.

well if you were going to include it, I suppose the best way would be for it to work only if a Necron with a "Rez Orb" is nearby (similiar to a Necron medic lol) then we could give the orb x number of charges similiar to the Apoth's rez limit,

but I still think that playable Necrons dont need everything from the TT anymore then LSM/CSM/Ork/Elder need everything from the TT in order to be included in EC

  3. please not playable.
    please.
    PLEASE.
if they make crons playable, then tyranids might be next.
and that would be...well...stupid, more so than crons being playable.

    and I suppose...

we cant have IG cause theyre just humans?,
we cant have SoB cause theyre just humans and too much like LSM equip-wise?,
we cant have Tau cause they use giant mecha suits and drones?,
we cant have Dark Eldar cause theyre just more space elves and dont wear enough armour?,
we cant have Daemons cause they lack variety?,

    etc etc etc

If we start nitpicking then EC will never get new factions,

and that means disatisfied current customers who will only play for a while and the loss of other potential players who only want to play their favorite factions

  5. *Sigh*
we CAN have tau. using giant mecha suits and drones is not a reason AT ALL to not have them as a faction.
dark eldar are just as similar to eldar as csm's are to lsm's, if not less so. they should be included no doubt.
daemons can and probably will be added into the chaos faction.
IG....well, thats an issue, but not a fundemental lore issue. they have things like storm troopers, and if you had those guys as the 'starting point' for their basic classes, then they could work.
SoB...well..yes..but no. they have their own troops that the space marines dont have at all. the only issue with them and IG is that them fighting space marines in open war, when those space marines are FIRST FOUNDING CHAPTERS...well, that shit doesn't happen on a scale that it would have to for them to be enemies on arkhona. which is why i think that they should have chapters/craftworlds be sub-sub-factions, and have sisters of battle, space marines, and imperial guard be sub-factions, with the imperium as a faction. chaos could have daemons as a sub-faction, along with chaos space marines and the lost and the damned.
tau could have kroots as a faction, tau, and...maybe just a general auxilary alien faction..including humans, vespid, etc? maybe tau-allied IG forces..who use tau stuff combined with imperium stuff? *shrug*
orks...well..they dont have really many options for sub-factions as described here...freebooters are more sub-sub-faction material, and...feral orks COULD work, seeing as you could play up their reliance on squigs/squiggoths/gretchins, and their use of steam stuff, such as the steam gargant (using smaller machines o course), they could also have warboars unique to them..
and we don't really have choices for eldar/dark eldar....unless you had them ally, which is..not as stupid as one would think--its happened as often as eldar allying with imperium forces, if not moreso, but still..harlequins as sub faction might work, but they are a bit elite for that, and dont really have any basic class material to my awareness, seeing as a harlequin is easily above a run-of-the-mill space marine. exodite eldar don't have much material either..
well, that was an unexpected source of inspiration! thank you!

necrons are meant to be mindless, and work perfectly as NPC's. they have a REALLY limited set of weapons, are slow as all hell, and can resurrect. and their weapons are effective against EVERYTHING.
  6. Well from what I could read (bear in mind I am not that much into the whole lore) all Necrons have a mind of their own, but because they are robots a protocol have been build into their mind, telling them what to do, but they still have a personality, that can be seen by the fact that even normal Necron warriors show disguss and fear for the flayed ones because they dont want to be like them, so not being in the game because of being mindless should not be the reason.
I see the weapon and customization problems, and I dont have a clear answer for that.
I would really love for Necrons to be a playable race instead of NPC since they are my favorite race, but I would still play EC if Necrons became a NPC race, a bit dissapointed but I would still play. :(

  7. Honestly guys I see Necrons, Tau, deamons and the other races as opportunities to make this game great and unique. Necrons have an entirely different play style than your standard fps.

I see great opportunity to make EC a very unique and fun game with a diversity of cool ways to play.

You just need imagination to be able to see it.

Ask yourself, how could the race be playable and what could it bring to the game? That question creates a very different opinion.

another way to look at it is this way...

a recent thread http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/what-faction-will-you-play-once-all-factions-are-here.43463/ asks a simple question

and so far the poll shows that 32 out of 84 people want to play a faction that isnt in EC yet,

    thats 40%,

40% of people who bothered to answer the poll want to play a different faction then the 4 planned for launch,

so what we need are people prepared to argue ways to include new factions post-launch not people who simply dismiss the concept
  9. One thing I realise about the Necrons is that many of their weapons a bound to a specific class, like the flayed ones have their claws and Canoptek Wraith have its weapons build into it, so what I am trying to say is that, like the Eldar, the Necrons can have more classes to pick then the other factions.
For the different weapons, meybe bE could twist some things and create some different Necron weapons that still are kind of like the ones they already have, but not in the same way (sorry if I am stepping some warhammer fans over the toe).
As for customization I dont know, the flayed ones are the only ones I see with options that not only are different colors, so there is something to think about.
    Also, Merry Christmas :D
  10. Simple, make them even more rigid classes then eldar. The issue really is that upgradability of weapons and armour. There is not much to work with in the lore, so be would have to do a lot of the ground work. Better to have npc's where if you don't clear the zone in time the group you are facing res and your stuck in the middle.
