I am fine with this actually. There are possibilities for a future faction and we can add more Chapters, Warbands ect. into the fray. Either way we would benefit some how.
Sir we haven't even gotten the Xenos from the core game idea yet. So please cease and desist about NECRONs there are already 16 billion other threads on the topic so please us those to express your opinions. I gladly welcome you to the forums and also I for one am ambivalent to wether they are npc or playable having 2 npc factions seems wonky but fun whilst another playable faction is always interesting. So let's focus on finishing the marines and getting the core Xenos before we even start brainstorming for other races.
My 2 cents - I'd rather add the Necrons to the game in a PvE capacity, like the Tyranids. They're far more suited for that style of game play to me (and storytelling). Both races are universal enemies that people can unite over fighting.
Yes, please. Last I checked most Necrons, apart from Lords and such, were mindless anyway. Just like Nids.
Necrons above Necron Warriors are not mindless, Immortals can choose what they want to do. They can even talk, but they choose not to. Flayed Ones...might have a mind but they are just delusional..and insane.. And the automatons...well are Automatons.
Well they're still deathless robots that definately wouldn't behave the way they would if they were player controled. When you have the ability to regenerate and lack the ability to feel pain, things like taking cover don't really seem very important. Pretty sure even Newcrons would be perfectly filling to marck rank and file into combat, something players would not do.
playable faction Necrons might require BE to only use "elite unit" classes to be implemented but that precedent has already been established with the Craftworld Eldar Aspect classes which are "elite unit" choices on the TT anyway, additional factions beyond the 4 planned for launch in EC has been the promise from day1 and I'd hate to see that broken since there are many of us founders who are waiting for the inclusion of the faction we prefer and waiting with our wallets open having already put our money on the table as well, and to be honest, unless the tyranids make an appearance on the surface of arkhona and not just in instanced PvE lairs the whole "PvE" experience in EC is rather pointless anyway, it becomes a closed room side-show that doesnt really add much of anything to the game, EDIT will I ask for my money back if additional factions arnt added to EC post launch or if my preffered factions dont make the "added later" list? probably not, but only having what are I view personally "the best of a bad lot" choices isnt going to encourage me to hand over more money post launch or continue to play after a year or so
Honestly I would enjoy being able to fight against player necrons. It would be a very different type of enemy and style of game play. It would be a race of slow moving, very resilient, self healing army. The game play mechanics would be interesting and different from the other races to add a different level of gameplay to this. Similar to how different the ork game play will be. I see it as a great opportunity to make EC a very noteworthy game. And it would be fun to face off against walls of regenerating enemies that don't use cover and just shamble on forward against our factions armies. Necrons are, simply put, a good opportunity for unique game play and interesting mechanics. I'm for players playing necrons.
-New codex fifth edition, Necrons are Egyptians in space. What i am talking about: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Necron_Dynasty Example of what i am talking about: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Sautekh_Dynasty They are however allowed to have mindless necrons as well, so if a tomb world gets the hangover they get master protocoled by the old coding to perform in a certain way.....what they were told to do before going to sleep so they continue. Hangover tombworld on Arkhona with dynasty necrons coming to pay a visit?
