Necrons are an interesting race and it is debated if they are going to be in the game at some point. I think it would be innovative to have Necrons as playable characters. I can see them going in two ways. One: Necrons are playable and the tomb worlds will be able to be fought over like what they have now. Two: Necrons won't be playable but instead they will be apart of instances like the Tyranid instances that plan to be underground. This might lead to a different race being added like the Tau or something. What are your opinions?
Imagine assaulting a Necron tomb with legions of deathless machines barreling at you. That would be cool in my opinion.
They have said that they plan to add every faction during the lifetime of the game, you can also read this in the FAQ. Seeing as the Necrons and the Tau are neck and neck in all community made polls on the next race im pretty sure they have a big chance of post launch inclusion.

I think them as characters would be interesting and very fun. Although, I do enjoy the idea of them as NPC's too. It will be interesting to see how the vote will turn out.
In my opinion, and ONLY my opinion, the reboot for the Necrons ruined them. No longer are they some unfathomable machine race whose motives and machinations are beyond human understanding, now they are just like people. Like Tomb Kings in Spaaaaaace! I much preferred them as mysterious assailants, with no discernable motive, strategies and tactics that were alien to humanity, and very little insight into how their minds, if indeed they had minds, worked. Give me back my Terminator-Necrons and shit-can these pseudo-Egyptian Tomb King Necrons. As an NPC race, of course. T
I want them in game, being a cron lover since they hit the deck, but if they are not playable, shits goin down! And in MY opinion the new lore would make it a bit easier to have them as a playable race, as much as I have issues with the new lore
NOTE: 5. The 5th Faction will be decided by YOU/Founders through voting later on. We will give you a big short list of the faction our licensor allows us to add and yes TAU and Necron are on that list but NO Squat are NOT. This simply isn't the case. The 5th subfaction will be voted on, not a 5th, new Faction to the game entirely. Subfactions being Chapters, Craftworlds, Tribes, etc... not Armies. Obviously, Tau and Necrons will not be on that vote, as they are not part of the existing factions that we have announced for Eternal Crusade. I'm not sure how this mix up happened, and apologies all around for anyone who got excited about this. If and when we do add a 5th Faction to the game it will most definitely be much further down the line, and in heavy consultation with GW.
