I was thinking along the lines of growth of extra eyes, horns, appendages. But more like your helmet transforming into a daemonlike or animal face, such as a bird of prey or my own preference a wolfs face, with ram horns, and leathery wings.
I would think that the mutations would either give us an advantage over our opponents, or be detrimental for a fight. After all, the Dark Gods are fickle.
Mutations as a sort of debuff for failing? I like that though it'd probably be really hard to work in. For the most part I think they're going to be a positive thing
Basically what PlaguePriest covered, though note that i asked them this in the AMA video (the question posed by Chaos Git) and that they basically said they will see what they can do. That later evolved to telling us that dedication will come post launch, and with it the expansion of the said looks. So waiting is in order i guess. From one of my writeups with Michael: "To be unable to go full-Plague Marine is a sacrifice, but we intend to incorporate the Chaos pantheon into the progression and equipment. How much of that is visually represented is still being discussed. Expanding on the Chaos Gods and adding cult troops is definitely something the designers are keen on doing post-launch (of course, also considering the situation; the wishes of the community; resources). At that point, I should expect a greater selection of visual representation. Tech-wise, Patrick and the programming team are assessing solutions to overcome rendering challenges that any game with giant battles will inevitably face. Hope that sheds some light on the situation. TL;DR: Time and budget!" As for specific mutations ive always been a fan of pincers and tentacles (get your head out of the gutter). And the Realm of Chaos book covers quite allot of varied boons they could look into using. Granted its only Nurgle and Tzeentch covered they can use their imagination (and other sources) to make the other gods represented in mutations. One boon which is covered in the book is Nurgling infestation for instance. Theres quite allot and im not gonna write them all up, but for a few examples: Nurgle: Immensity, Face of Nurgle, Nurgles Rot, Plague, Face of the Beast, Hide of Nurgle, Trail of Slime Tzeentch: Face of a Horror, Flame Arm, Hand of Tzeentch, Estatic Duplication, Reckoning of Tzeentch
There's another book! Realms of Chaos is a two-parter, there's The Lost and the Damned which is the Tzeentch and Nurgle expansion, and then there's the one I own; Slaves to Darkness for Khorne and Slaanesh. And some of these would be really hard to implement as a gift, seeing as immensity would draw fire to you like no one else's business and is really more of a drawback then a boon. Ecstatic duplication would be amazing on all levels but probably a bit OP.
Well its better then making up boons imo, even if theoretically since its Chaos not all mutations and boons can ever be documented. Im sure no mutation is a copy of another. Still there are enough examples to use, they dont need to use every single one.
