Wait so where you by any chance in The Enclave?

    Pretty much.

I stayed around for a week and even went to other servers and played around with some others but I just lost taste in PS2 anyway. PS2 had good ideas and mechanics I hope EC gets influence from but not straight up copy. I had a lot of hopes for PS2, I enjoyed it but I just got tired of it really.

I'm really into the 40k universe. So if the game-play is decent the fanboy in me won't let me stop playing.

Dev's will hopefully have some stuff happen with each victory a faction gets as well.
  4. I was a part of Enclave back in PS1 but I couldn't tolerate the ego for planetside 2

If the player has to do something himself to encourage himself to play the game, then this is bad game design.
The game always has to make u wanna play it.

See it like: The player can exist without the game, but the game cannot exist without players.

So the game is in charge to hold u in and motivate u.

Miguel Caron talked about victories and achieving continent / planet domination. Players will be able to achieve a proper victory, unlike Planetside 2, which is why I don't fully commit to that game. It feels like a permanent stalemate with clusters of players lumbering and drifting from point to point. The newest updates declare whoever owns X amount of facilities or Biodomes will be declared the winner, when it just feels like the stalemate continues with the game stating "THESE GUYS HAVE WON", when they simply havn't.

The lack of a true win state is Planetside 2's downfall, and will give EC the upper hand. Players have something genuine to fight towards, groups of players working together won't have their efforts removed before they even start because in PS2 you have essentially lost from the very beginning.
  7. Eh, Planetside 1 didn't really have a "win state" either and it did fine until they completely broke it with Core.

PS2 has a lot of failings besides the lack of a win state.

The gameplay needs to be great. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is an old game, but it's not a dead game. There are still servers that are filled up - very few, but they exist. Why? Great gameplay.

    Yay, excellent.
  10. The thing with BF2 is that it was for a lot of people the first TPS they played with any real scale.
