So I just really started getting into it with the reaper launcher this last patch, and I can't help but feel this thread is about me. The charge-up (and with six shot, it takes a dodge to cancel it), the zoom in, AoE, and random accuracy makes me a teamkiller. If I see an epic clash of melee, I walk away. I can't shoot into it, there's no way. Really any time there's eldar on my screen I won't shoot in that direction (anymore, steep learning curve there). I have to get away from the group, get an angle, and find clumps of enemy (or vehicles) to shoot at. Sorry for the teamkills, but it's nice to scrap vehicles without being beside them. If you're interested in using the reaper launcher, learning when and how to use starswarm over starshot is the trick.
Only time I disapprove of team killers, if its intentional or when I walk around a corner and get gunned down because my allies decided to shoot instead of looking(this is the most annoying version.)
Most of the team kills that's happened to me was over eager heavy bolter users racking up that body count. Was doing tyranids hacking them down heavy bolter user just opened up gunned me an them down not even a second thought. Accidents happen I forgive those but just firing into melee to get a body count nope.
Well, how will this prevent you from being punished when allies jumps in front of you or desides to run in front of the vehicle spawner? Recently I TK'ed two Stormboyz because they decided to Ground Slam the enemy I had just fired a Rokkit at It was rather funny though, and one of them apologized for not knowing the Rokkits did damage now
Okay lets run by simulations. Person A is shooting at target B and ally who is person C decided to jump in front of you trying to kill hog your target B and dies. Who is at fault? Person C. <--This happens a lot. Simulation number 2: Person A is spawning in a vehicle, person B is standing right in front of vehicle launch pad and gets run over upon person A spawning. Who is at fault? Person B. <--This also happens a lot. Simulation number 3: Person A who is missing a few brain cells decides to charge his explosive weapon and hits a wall and kills himself and "allies" (this person should only have one class available to him: meat shield, no weapons allowed just some armor and health packs [to give to me and allies]) <--happens some of the time. Unintentional team killing shouldn't be punishable. It should be if it happens to more than once; therefore a grace forgiveness should implemented that isn't dictated by someone, any team-killing after that is fair game. First is forgiven. Second if the person decided not to forgive is strike two with the lose of 100 xp. Strike three person should take a 10% xp loss. Also if you had a veteran character and you were team killed, said loss didn't go against you, it went against your team killer. Devs please read this---> Devs make it when a vehicle first spawns it doesn't go flying out of the vehicle launch bay killing someone. I do understand where you are coming from but there are two sides to this perspective. I was team killed 5 times in a single match and it was all do to "friendly fire" all of them were simulation number 3. In that match I hated my team more than my chaos loving enemies!
As a mainly melee player, I get teamkilled A LOT by people obviously not giving a flying fuck about allies, and just going for the kill. I tend to forgive almost always first timers (when the UI doesn't bug out and prevent me from doing it), but seriously, people should learn some trigger discipline, you shouldn't be firing anywhere near friendly units. It looks like i'm losing, and want to help out? Be my guest, grab your knife and dive in, or smash my opponent head in with your HB. There's a reason in tabletop not even orks are allowed to fire in melee engagements. Unfortunately, I can't see an easy solution. Maybe copy Planetside way and have a growing penalty applied the more you keep damaging friendlies. So a single stray shot killing a friendly isn't so bad, but you get larger penalties the more you keep damaging allies. Also, lower friendly fire damage and penalties associated for orks, because as any ork can tell you, friendly bullets hurt less than enemy ones, and you can't expect them to stop the dakka obviously.
This i have to REJECT with all my might. I wish quite the opposite - melee damage hitting your allies just like your enemies, that will get rid of hillarious fast attack CSM (i mean faction not the clan) trains, and also will make melee players think twice before engaging in 1v1 duel and HOPEFULLY they will find another tagret, instead of piling up on one lone idiot. Sry that was rage unleashed. Speaking on topic - current system is ok, but stupid melee teleports and unpredictable grenade fuses take their teamkill toll.
If the system is going to stay in place, there should some kind of a warning the likes of: 'Kicking a player should only used if someone is intentionally killing their own team mates. Abuse of this feature will be dealt with harshly.' With it as it is new players to the game will be getting booted left right and centre (on top of the steep learning curve they face), the same as have been seeing happening to Orks lately. Hardly fitting for the games popularity..
Yes we need more penality on TK, many range player realy don't care to kill a teammate. It's a toxic behavior in a game where you are supposed to cooperate.
I killed several team mates tonight. I'm firing full auto in a hallway for over 5 minutes when the enemy is charging in on me, have all ready been shooting a group and a mele runs in front of me and stops. He fell down fast. Moral of the story DO NOT stand in front of a heavy bolter that is all ready firing at someone.
