Sup? Am continuing giving some ideas for melee combat in EC like i already did here http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/thr...-vs-wh40k-sm-roll-hth-combat-discussion.9247/ and got 0 replies... Is that idea that bad? Well any way lets roll. I was thinking. In tabletop wh40k when ranged units get cought in hth combat with melee units they cannot shoot, just fight in melee and hope for the best. What if in EC when melee fighter get close enought to you. Like 5-3m or until the firt strike, character automaticly switching to hes melee weapon(combat knife-bolt pistol or else) and only thing whats left for you is to fight, or block attacks until some one helps you, or just try to gain some space and use primary weapon again. If not for "auto switch" (because that could be realy annoying) ranged units should have some major debuffs for using ranged weapons in melee, like heavy screen shakes when some one swingin hes sword in front of you, or some little things like that, that could make shooting primary wepon in melee almost imposible and useless. Why is that a problem in the first place? (1st) In real life combat if some one jumping on you with a sword, you wont going to do much witn a rifle, unluss if you try and beat the s**t out off the attacker with it. (2nd) Thats how things work in TT.(3rd) In "space marine" killing assaults with a meltagun was so easy, that i never realy used it. Prefering to deal with them with a simple bolter or a combat knife. Because gaining some space with that "roll" was realy easy as well. And i dont happy that EC copying that roll move because for me there is some better alternatives for it. Only thing I agree with is camera shake when attacked in CC while zoomed in. Rolling spam can be controlled by adding stamina consumption on use.
We are dealing with MMO that have large open world. There is no such thing like "stamina" in games like that. (+ stamina for SMs?0_0 Eldar or Orc's? i thinks those dudes dont know what it is like to be exausted) And whole that "roll" for me look stoopid and out of place. And who is going to zoom in on the enemy who is trying to attack you in melee? 0______________O Like he is already not close enough.
I do know about all of this. I meant that if we've got a large map, that automaticly means that some times u gona run, and run alot (Planetside 2 is a good example). And in that case stamina bar is a realy bad ally.
I too like the screen shake. I hope they add that. I don't like the idea of being forced into melee though, I'd rather see the characters use their equipped weapons for melee. Chaos Havoc occasionally winning a fight by smacking a dual-Choppa Ork senseless with their Heavy Bolter. Or just being able to block enough for a friend to turn up and turn the tide. Both of those would add more to the game just imo, without forcing a mechanic. In TT, in lore, in other IP shooters there are always those great stories where you manage to get off the perfect Tank killing round that turns the battle even as you're in a fatal position. I appreciate part of your suggestion that makes that shot harder !! I think I should have to decide on suicide for a chance of success vs blocking and living 3 seconds longer though you know ?
The only ting that i hate abou "roll" that it is a god damn "roll". Not a dodge, or dash, wich would be much better even for the emmersion.
