Today in the dev stream the topic of jumps and the overall mobility aspect of the four races was brought up. Interestingly, the devs have had an entire meeting at one point about the question: Do Space Marines jump? The answer seems to be "they don't" and honestly I can't find it in me to disagree. Another point that was brought up was that someone right here on this forum had suggested that units with jump packs should be able to latch onto walls or buildings in mid-jump, then point themselves into a new direction and rocket off towards there. The devs have tried it and found it immensely cool, so that will most likely be implemented. On an overall perspective one question needs to be asked: how does a certain race move? I guess one can slot it into roughly three categories since Spacies and Chaos Spacies probably move in mostly the same manner: dancing fairy, power-armored brick and mobile raging fungus. But how would they move in detail? Now, I wanted to ask you guys that question. What do you think? I'll go right on ahead with my own. My favourite of course are the Orkz, so I'll go and say it here: their movement style should if possible include smashing things. I don't believe an Ork would jump over an obstacle if he could instead smash it or step on it so hard that it breaks. Alternatively, he wouldn't do some combat roll over it or swing his legs over it, the Ork would just pull up a leg, plant it on the edge and take the obstacle like one giant stair.
I can see Orks just waving their arms in front of them while running, smashing all the puny obstacles on their way.
Hm, maybe jumping is indeed somewhat silly - except for the eldar. But the other 3 should be able to climb or vault small obstacles, so we won't be blocked by some small but sturdy wall
All have vaulting in some way e.g. Orks run over it, Marines just vault it and Eldar do a flip. I think however they move Marines should be efficient like rolling in Space Marine, Orks should be rather clumsy and Eldar acrobatic.
