Minority in what? In the sense of enjoying the game? I guess a lot are as well because I am not playing alone you know.
The ~below 1,000 players concurrents to the 75,000 that bought this game. It doesn't seem like being a minority because the majority just up'd and left in the first week or two so some players would have barely noticed. Hell i didn't even notice until a friend showed me the steam demographic.
1k? Thats still plenty of people for me to play with anyways. I wonder why people keep attacking this game like it was the last game ever made or something.
Because it most likely will be the first attempt and last attempt of a 40k game MMOshooter. Developers in the future will learn from these mistakes and probably won't even try making a 40k MMOshooter just because of the technical and community based difficulties this game got drowned in. People might view this moment as a road to never tread on if you're not looking for early failure for your company.
MMOs are past anyways. I wonder how anyone bought the idea of a new MMO in the time the genre is basically dead unless you are Blizzard (and even then, still struggling). I see the complains but I dont get most of them. As I said, I am having so much fun that it made worth the price I payed for. I supose FPS genre fans are more picky about details but what amazes me is the people that play the rip off tabletop game, where a small box with 4 marines cost 50 bucks, complaing of the price of this game.
What Turtle is saying is that with these numbers EC is not gonna hold on for long, not enough players - not enough money - for running the game. simple
They still had money from founders \early access or directly from BHVR for 'finishing' the game but that does not last forever, later you have to upkeep the servers, the game must be profitable in order to do so, if not enough new ppl buy the game and there are few ppl doing micro transactions the money run out very fast. That's why they needed a publisher so badly to help them fund the game for some more time (untill the consoles release, and guess what, the publisher wants to make profit too).
So, I will also link this here...when people are complaining, it's a good spot. http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/santa-emperors-wishlist.60036/ Feel free to contribute.
