Almost everything visual is a work in progress. Pre-alpha means pre-production, things are put in place to "have" something there (because let's face it, a stick figure just wouldn't cut it) The dev team is just laying the foundation of the game right now, so things will be tweaked and improved upon over the course of development!
Well, if we have to "complain" about something i really hope the devs get rid of the glow on the characters when they start to "recharge" their armour.
I'd like to see a rework of the animation on Assault Marines when walking, it seems like they are overweight and waddling..
Thanks for the quick reply! I'm glad seeing a game going to what is, IMHO, the right direction, and a dev team with my kind of mentality...keep up the good work guys!
Its one of the difficulties with a third person view. Your character is going to end up in the way of *something* no matter what you do. Having the player slightly to the left / right of centre makes sense, to avoid situations where you regularly block your view of what you're targeting. For the majority of the time, the view seemed to be absolutely fine, with characters being, to all intents and purposes, centered. There were some points when the camera angle jumped in close where the character occupied a large proportion of the left of the screen and lost all visibility immediately behind them, which is where a tactical disadvantage could occur (and annoy the player, as its not something they can easily control). Nothing that can't be fixed and adjusted, IMO, so that the camera does a better job of climbing walls at short ranges to ensure you retain a fairly consistent view of the battlefield. I'm fairly relaxed about it - if the view is annoying to people, its not going to survive all the way to launch.
How many days/weeks of work was the pre-alpha? Is it just the aggregated amount since the beginning or a specific amount of time? When you guys envision the game, playing in a stronghold such as that, I imagine your trying to recreate the sensation of chaos. Will you guys be going for huge battles like in space marine? The combat seemed too fast. As in kind of like guildwars 2 arenas. In space marine vs the orks there was a lot of back and forth. Dodging blocking using abilities but as I watch there it seemed more like space marine where you just spam attack buttons. Obviously not all the players do that but I hope you encourage more back and forth between the factions. I would love to walk into a firefight and watching dodges/blocks/evades/feints between like a Nob and Tactical Space Marine. Instead of just spamming a single melee button hehe. Not that I mind a twitchy game at all but adding in melee must be difficult. I think maybe seeing some of the melee in action would convince me more. . I would love to be evenly matched as a Nob Vs Force Commander or maybe Assault Marine relying on feints/blocks or maybe back up from another Ork.
i think they will/ that is the plan, this is all still very very early pre alpha footage, they just added the heavy bolter like a few days ago(Some time after this video was made) just give them your time and trust and i'm sure they'll produce your a master crafted game
Let the camera change sides, like in APB. There you just press V and the camera instantñy flips between your right and left sides
