The inclusion of missile launchers has been visited and revisted before. The defining roadblock to its inclusion being the requiring of new mocap for the shoulder mounted position.

This is more of a thread centered on the hypothetical setting in which the shoulder mounted animations have already been added, and whether or not it would be possible to adapt these animations to a shoulder mounted heavy bolter as well as whether or not there is a possibility and a desire to add said shoulder mounted heavy bolters.

So how bout it? If the Devs can go back to rogue trader to pick up some Eldar appearance, could they maybe use old models of things including a shoulder mounted heavy bolter pattern?

Would you want such an item?

I cannot fathom how is the animation side of things a problem, I did maybe 10-15 work-hours of 3D animation in my life and seeing as how the exact thing I did do was rifle and shoulder-launcher for a character, I cannot believe it to be an issue for a proper company with even a single person and a few hours to spare to get this done.
  3. Missle launcher? You really want to give the LSM another weapon while other factions got nothing new for months?
Eldritch, Alb, Ashgarm and 2 others like this.

No, I want to know if people want a shoulder mounted heavy bolter in a hypothetical setting where the missile launcher is already fully animated.

They decided to go with motion capture, so they would need to do another round of mocap.

Mo-cap is the single worst thing to ever happen to 3D animation.
The breakpoint on efficiency is far outside the scope of most videogames, especially a rather bare-bones shooter like EC, not to even mention killing any artistry in the medium.

I too would have preferred they choose 3D animators over mocap, but the fact of the matter is they chose to go with mocap and seem dedicated to using it instead.
  7. If we can get them in, bearing in mind the wait for other factions becoming more rounded and all the other fixes and additions required to make the game more enjoyable and balanced for all factions, then hell yes.

I mean look at that shit! Why wouldn't you want the option to look like that if you could take it?

That's what Marines looked like when I found the 40k universe so I'm biased I guess but I'd take the old school version of things were ever possible, thanks much!

This is what I had in mind. I wouldn't dare suggest it be worked on at least until the other factions each got a decent amount of new equipment to flesh them out but hopefully they are by the time the second round of mocap for two handed weapons comes out because this looks amazing!

And then they will go back to the carried versions. From the ashes will emerge an elite group of devastators forged in the fires of combat and the shadow of death. Their shoulders will spell doom for those foolish enough to underestimate them...

And they'll look cool as shit!
