4chan is one of my guilty pleasures in life. I'm surprised any Dev had the gall to go there and publicly admit it. You didn't get any penis-replies, did you?

Surprisingly not. Don't even think there was any nudity in the threads Miguel was in. Clearly an issue that needs to be addressed for the next AMA.

    NOTE:

    5. The 5th Faction will be decided by YOU/Founders through voting later on. We will give you a big short list of the faction our licensor allows us to add and yes TAU and Necron are on that list but NO Squat are NOT.

    This simply isn't the case.

The 5th subfaction will be voted on, not a 5th, new Faction to the game entirely.

Obviously, Tau and Necrons will not be on that vote, as they are not part of the existing factions that we have announced for Eternal Crusade.

I'm not sure how this mix up happened, and apologies all around for anyone who got excited about this.

If and when we do add a 5th Faction to the game it will most definitely be much further down the line, and in heavy consultation with GW.

@ those who think there are no Maritime Units (Aquatic Navy) in 40k:

    Imperial:

    Imperial Guard:

Their Chimera Transport is Amphibious. It completely ignores water features. It's a transport that can also be considered a maritime naval unit like a transport from D-Day.

    Ork:

All Eldar Vehicles can go on water because they are hovercraft..... so just enjoy this crazy one instead:

Chaos is too hard for me to find, but if the situation called for it, I'm sure the Iron Warriors would have no problems putting a gun emplacement on a naval vessel and pointing it at Imperial targets on some peninsula. If the only reason we're not getting naval units in the game is because of a lack of evidence in the lore, take a look at the 3rd war for Armageddon, one of the largest wars in 40k history.

"Even Yarrick was surprised as these grim lands had always been believed to be uninhabitable and without value. Their value to the Ork Warboss became apparent when weeks later hundreds of tanker-sized Ork submersibles designed by Orkimedes rose from the polluted waters and made landings at Hives Tempestora and Helsreach. The surprise was total and Tempestora fell within days and the dockyards of Helsreach were soon in Greenskin hands. Only a bitter defiance by Hive Helsreach's ganger militias, with supporting companies of Imperial Guard Storm Troopers and Space Marines that had been rushed to the region, prevented the Orks from overrunning the hive city during what became known as the Battle of Helsreach. It was at Hive Helsreach that theBlack Templars Chaplain Grimaldus led the defense of the Temple of the Emperor Ascendant, which had stood since Armageddon's colonization...."

Also, more information about Ork Submersibles and the conflicts in which they have been used can be found here: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Ork_Submersible

So please, if you have water features, even islands let us FIGHT OVER THEM TOO!!!

I'm perfectly fine seeing the Space Marines not being able to get on the water with anything but Landspeeders as well. They could always just "take a walk:"

In terms of balancing, the Eldar and Orks should definitely have some nasty tricks up their sleeve.... submarines and hovercraft flanking from a surprise position is certainly one of them....

Unless submersible's are needed, in a universe where things can fly economically, there's no point in actual maritime vessels, as in ships. Submersible's still retain strategic and tactical advantages.
  8. Wouldn't mind seeing an Ork submersible assault as a WC power; they did it on Armageddon, don't see why they can't do it here.
