Meleeing Vehicles

  1. Jasta885 Jasta885 First Blood!

on the flip side there is nothing quite as satisfying as running over a melta gunner or a power fister.

  2. We've been asking for about 10 months to give Melee assaulters attacking vehicles more of a chance when they destroy a vehicle.

The obvious and easiest method would be(which I proposed about 6 months ago):

    1. Vehicle catches fire when it's destroyed. The vehicle is counted as a kill at this point
    2. All crew/passengers inside vehicle are killed when vehicle catches fire.
    3. 3 to 8 seconds later(random roll) the vehicle explodes.
    4. No amount of additional damage will cause the vehicle to explode once it catches fire.
    5. Problems, for the most part, fixed. Fist/Claw users have time to safely clear the vehicle before it goes up, but it's random when it explodes so assaulter beware.

  3. There's no differential damage right now but i remember that way before in the alpha they once had full and partial melee friendly fire, what means they do have to option to differentiate, they probably just don't want for some reason, consistency maybe.

But if they really wanted all they had to do is cast a test right before the explosion to see who was the last player to hit the vehicle (ue4 treats all players individually, there's indeed a player 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on...), run another to see what did that player hit the vehicle with, and if it was a heavy melee weapon make said player immune to the subsequent explosion damage.
