Melee Weapon Damage Needs a Buff

  1. Right, I agree. But that's in essence what Bolters are doing daily. So obviously something has to change drastically.

    Wouldn't that be 340 (170x2) if melee could headshot?

    It shouldn't be a melee weapon dmg buff but an overall ranged dmg reduction.
    Grosso modo, lowering ranged TTK.

  5. It's quite interessting to see the following:

    1 Sorcerer, does nothing but Warp-Regenerating a Ranged-Traitor
    2. Me as Banshee fighting said Ranged-Traitor.

    I had literally no chance at all, not even with the scream to kill that one. in 2 of 3 cases he doesn't take damage, and gets healed to full back again.
    Things like this highlight the fundamental Melee-Problem

    However... shooting someone who get's warp-regenerated is no problem. It's a little difficult to kill him during bleedout, but at least it works... compared to melee

    It's been asked before, but what if we removed the headshot bonus? Bolter damage drops to 57-58 per round with its other bonuses.

    The other day, as a DA, I threw two grenades at two fallen CSM in a door that were being healed by sorcs behind a wall, no damage at all.
    I started to shoot them with my ASC, no real effect.
    I started to headshot one, nada.
    Just left and tried to cap another point.

    I hope it was latency or game not registering damage for some reason and not that the sorcs heal faster than whatever damage a grenade or headshooting with ASC does.

    I think you'll make ranged less skillful? and probably make combats too long?. Maybe make headshots not be x2, and something like x1.5. Or give Caesars what's Caesars and make headshots in melee happen (not from back because you have backpack and also you already deal more damage from there).

    EDIT: Oh god, I realized I'm SM centrist, not all races have a backpack that covers their heads!. Anyway, still you already take more damage from melee attacks at the back

    Here is another clear point of view that Ranged TTK > Melee TTK.
    This was stated eons ago, but thx anyway for pointing this out again.

    1.5x bonus for headshots would put Bolters at about 87 a round.

    Quick question: Servo Skull is 30% for all damage, not just ranged, right? I'm just working out how much a chainsword could deal with all its bonuses. I get about 188 per FA (bonuses being Barbed Teeth @ +5 (Wtf?!), the melee banner @ 6% Adrenaline Vial from Apothecary @ 30% and Servo Skull @ 30%)
