Removing the Lock-on would be the first thing to do for a PC Game.
I asked about that a LONG Time ago but it hasn't been changed, as we see.
So what i ask for NOW would be a Lock-on disable by performing a Evasion move. That should make you immune to a Lock on for a short Time. I have seen the effective use of a Pistol in a Melee Fight 1 or 2 Times and i played up to 50% of Rank 6.

hmmm ... heres the problem i see with this .... if you play a lot of melee particularly LSM you know TTL is super short ... if you have no way to keep the heat on you die instantly when not "engaged in melee" im ok with taking down some mobility on melee classes IF AND ONLY IF we can still trap people in melee and they cant just run giggling peice out to the bank when they turn around and kill us in one quick pulse from thier weapon .... Hell im ok with thier being tiers of removed mobility based on how much armor and toughness you put on ... so that the tankier you are the slower you are like in most situations .... and ide like to see a return of some of the power on the assault slam for forcing a melee fight and or actually doing some damage or a long enough stun they cant just leave or kill you while you stand back up from delivering it ....

Melee is by no means as "OP" as people make it out to be its more that theres a couple broken melee weapons/mechanics running around everyone is abusing ... you forget that when we are trying to get to you we cant do anything back to you while you pelt us with HB,SC,etc fire and chaos has a homing noob cannon that kills jpas without really aiming it .... if you hate autolock you better just throw flak out the window too while your at it because at least autoaim can only be used when you are close, and will glitch and hinder your performance, and has to be engaged by the player, a chaos player spraying AC rounds in your general direction having them autosnap to you on account of no skill of thier own is a lot more game destroying than the close range melee lock on ....

dont run after a dbash .... hit them with your melee weapon or frag tag them with a grenade or melta .... or use your pistol if your a tactical class or just open fire with a storm bolter .......

ide like to point out as a LSM JPA main which i would presently rate as one of the weakest melee classes .... i get most of my kills on people spamming quick attack ...... i just dbash them and stick a krak grenade on them and leave or stall .... if i dbash them i can get a quick in with the power fist, or if they are low i can backpedal and use the bolt pistol .... the same works on tactical which i play only slightly less since our guild has a slight shortage of people willing to play tactical .... now if you are HW maybe you dont have much of a chance but if you are having trouble killing people from ranged with the reaper launcher and plasma before they get to you ..... it isnt melee thats the problem ....

I absolutely see where you're coming from. Thats how my Melee also looks most of the Time, in reverse i get slaughtered by Teleporting People that i can not escape, as hard as i try.

But the Problem as i see it, seems to be the Hit-detection. Maybe there is too much Lag on my side, so that it turns out that way. Idk because we dont even see our Ping/Lagspikes in the Game

But see, when the Melee Attack is shorter, you can run faster than the one performing it, what will end this awful LA Spam and lead to the use of the Attack when really of use.

Overall there should be more Tactic in the Game, a greater Health pool (or lower DMG by some Weapons) and removing the Lock on and/or reducing the range of Melee Attacks would result in that.
  5. I mainly have issues with fast attack having such a long lunge on it and incoming fire not throwing off the aim lock (it should do something noticeable, but not nearly the effect that suppression has on it). I also have issues with smart pistols, but that's another thing entirely.

I think (or hope, really) that the stun duration seeming short has more to do with latency than it actually being short.
During play I've had it happen that I d-bashed an enemy and they'd be up and moving before my bash animation was even done. Then I'd be bashed and be stuck for the full duration. Then I'd bash an enemy again and they'd be stuck for the full duration. And finally I've seen people being bashed succesfully and going 'lol-chop!' anyway.
So yeah, let's hope that's not all on d-bash being bugged.

  7. Honestly I don't know what to answer.
The fact is melee has many different issues adding up together and causing the situation we all know.

It's a mix of too high damage, bad animations, server lag, cheap weapon mods, too long melee leaps distance, lock-on, maps layout favoring close quarter combat, melee attacks causing slowdown / interruption.
If devs want to make the situation more balanced they have to look at the problem as a whole. Treating this like if the problem was only the lock-on or only the travel distance will simply bring us to an incomplete solution.

I'm fairly certain that the stun duration is based on the classes of the D-Basher and D-Bashee. Specifically, a Tactical-Or-Equivalent D-Bashing a 'Dedicated Melee' class causes a stun so short it ends at the same time as the D-Basher's recovery animation.

I hope that's not it because that'd be just stupidly unbalanced o_O D-bash is the only way for ranged classes to try and get a shot in or flee and limiting it's effectiveness like that is just... well I already said what.
