Ok, so people are asking for the Lock-on system to be removed. And while I agree, I think we also need to nerf the Distance a person travels when you melee. Right now, you can cover a the distance of a room in a few swings, this makes melee fighters extremely stick and hard to peel off. I also find that rolling is useless, as a Power Attack (and sometimes a fast attack) will cover the roll distance before you even recover from the roll. I was also thinking, fast attacks should barely move you, but implement the same system power attacks have where you can move and attack. This would mean you have to roll after your target, and have to continually move to keep up with them. It would make Dbash stuns more impactful and also get rid of mindless fast attack spammers.
Fully support this statement, a huge distance covered by fast attacks along with a lock-on system makes melee fights extremely boring and with expected outcomes, especially when you play for classes which are weaker in melee - say, my avenger wants to kill an apothecary or a shieldbro or any other strong melee class, the only option for me to prevail in a duel is to keep him at maximum distance from me and shoot, but once he approaches there is no way I can escape - when I roll or dash aside he simply locks me on and literally follows my "evasive maneuveurs", neither can I run away because he is too near and with a lock-on he stabs me, slowering my character greatly. Although, I wouldnt decrease travel distance covered by strong attacks, without a lock-on system they would be much less effective and hence their distance compensated greatly because you need to aim carefully before charging
As I said, the skating looks really bad and should be halfed or something like that. Getting kills with my Skyclaw doesnt need any tactical thinking but spam right mouse fast attack and emergency spacebar. I just want to add that people with lock-on that attack a target that rolls or is running, travells that long attack distance in the direction where the target used to be... which gives target some time to few burst. Somethimes its enough. You know that meme "you — the point"?
At least normalise the distance travelled. At the moment different races/classes travel different distances. An eldar using a power sword (no mods) travels further than a LSM using a power sword (no mods)
Now I know why your named brains it's because you wish to declare your lack of a fully functioning one. But op we need that stat
At this point I feel like fast attack is the only real culprit here. Had an Apothecary in a few games last night with a Narthecium that would, quite literally just LA all over to move and it was actually pretty hard to ever get a hit on him(granted I'm using slow ass Klaw heh). It looked absolutely stupid though to watch but god damn was it effective heh.
All of them except Klaw. That has nothing to do with distance travelled though. I can't catch up to a sprinting LSM spamming heavy with a Burny Choppa.
Apothecaries seem to have the furthest fast attack, they swing wildly and do large semi-circles when trying to turn around (with lock-on). This is with Narthecim btw.
