Melee System in it's current iteration is the worst of metas.

    I'm a primarily melee player.sorc/apo....every now and then jpa,or tac.

    Simple fact of the matter is,ranged has no chance once i get within about 15 meters of them(if they are alone).it's over.
    The knife dbash lasts about .3 ms...not enough time to do jack,and the knife is just going to break before it's useful anyways.
    All i have to do is spam rmb until he breaks his knife,gets stunned,and has to eat shit.
    They can either die,or dump a nade in an attempt to kill me,or at least deprive me of the kill.

    Here's what I think needs to happen:

    -unnerf the damn knives.this was a stupid and unnecessary nerf that no one needed.seriously,why? Just....why?
    -no durability loss on a successful dbash.also stupid.
    -all dbashes need to be created equal.same length of stun.this shitty knife dbash isn't going to do.it's stupid that stun duration is related to weapon tier.you don't even use the weapon in the stun animation!


    Also,i know this is a pipedream but REMOVE THE SHITBOX MELEE LOCK ON,and allow people to move while fast attacking.you can already move around while charging a heavy attack,just do the same for fast attacks.

    The main problem with the melee system that when it comes to two experienced players using it comes basically down to luck. After all it is a RPS and RPS is the definition of a luck system. There is not enough time to react with the proper counter. The system requires you to me make an educated guess of what your opponent will do rather be reactive.

    Now when it comes to the problems the OP mentions I disagree. Most people complain about ranged characters being "free" kills in melee cause they simply don't know what they are doing when they think they do. I win 50% of my melee engagements using a tactical class against melee I would say.

    After landing a dbash YOU DO NOT WANT TO CONTINUE TO MELEE with a tactical.

    When you get the stun from the dbash off you want to immediately (and I mean immediately) be rolling back and start firing. At this point of the engagement is where the true RPS of the melee vs tactical gameplay comes into play. The melee opponent and the tactical than have to guess what the other will do to determine who wins the outcome. Against Eldar melee it can be a little bit more tricky because of their extra speed to reengage. Can be a little tricky against a very experienced jump jet user as well but I think jump jet users need a bit of a nerf (I speak this from playing jump jet classes myself a lot as well).

    When it comes to heavy classes I think they should be free kills in melee. That's the disadvantage that should be inherent for the amount of ranged fire power they are given.

    The servers have been really, really bad after the last hotfix. Server lag has been ridiculous. I have a strong feeling that's where a lot of the issues is coming from.

    I don't understand how a hotfix can cause server lag though? I hope you're right of course, the previous iteration was actually fun and interesting.

    That largely depends on D-Bash working. Statistical feedback is suggesting that it's not.

    But that has to do with bugs and not the inherent design of tacticals to win against melee opponents.

    Then maybe they should fix those bugs instead of letting them go unfixed?
  8. I agree, this is the first thing devs should do.

    This would put melee weapons in a better place, but still I think TTK of many ranged guns is too high.

    Tactical life 1.


    Enemy does a power attack from just outside my range, I light attack so I don't take the power attack and get stunned.

    We clang because his animation was fast or my knife did not have the range to get to him in time to interrupt.

    He does a light attack, so I do a D-bash.

    My durability breaks and he kills me.

    Tactical Life 2.

    Enemy charges up a power attack so I roll.

    Enemy power attacks again killing me.

    (imo you can try to fix this by doing one of the following, nerf powerattack range, nerf their speed or buff rolling)

    Tactical Life 3.


    Enemy spams right click

    I try to disengage, the right click spam lockon is inescapable so therefore I die.

    I try to fight, I clang off his weapon a couple times and then weaponbreak and die.

    I try to play defensively, I dbash his right click spam again and again however eventually my weapon(foot?) breaks and then he kills me.

    I try to juke him, I throw out 2 dbashes and then hope he changes it up. I make him think im going to dbash a third time so he power attacks and then I light attack. I do very little damage and accomplish nothing really but prolonging the fight so allies can come and save me or his team can come aid him. The worst part of this is if the enemy just continues to mindlessly spam right click, its better than anything else he can do because he will eventually break my weapon and kill me that way. If he trys to power attack he risks getting hit, if he tries to dbash, he risks getting hit. All he has to do is continue to spam right click until the other persons weapon breaks. This game rewards mindless behavior.

    There is no way to compete in melee as a tactical against a class with any weapon greater than a knife. Your only hope is to dbash/clang long enough for a ranged teamate to quickly kill the attacker or for another melee to come up behind the attacker.

  10. This is truth, and it is also a deal breaker for me. I have defended this game on stream to my last breath, but I will not defend the game any more until this is not a thing anymore.

    You can counter your opponent perfectly over and over, but you will still lose. This is beyond BULL.
