MELEE REFORMATTING: Your Thoughts On This

    I believe like it worked better than what Eternal Crusade has currently, and I had no issues using it at the time. It even had better executions.

    Maybe if they would remove the ability to clang at all with bolter equipped and make it so that you would manually have to change weapon from bolter to knife and it would take a few seconds.

    Then you couldn't shoot to the face with the bolter while nullifying all of the opponents melee attacks with your knife. Also that way the melee ttk against a not parrying target would be on par with the ranged ttk.

    Devs fool around with the melee system. It becomes faceroll. Melee starts dominating the game again, and the people who complained constantly that ranged was easymode will act like melee isn't and that they never said that about ranged.

  5. I want to see the stun go. It's no fun for anyone really I think, except that guy who deserves to get dBashed because he can't lay off the FA button.

    Why _not_ make the third attack a riposte? You reduce incoming damage greatly, and deal damage back to your opponent, relative to your weapon damage.

    Or why _not_ do a feint? Like a full i-frame supported in-place dodge. Your character starts an attack which is like the dBash's wind up, but then just leans to the side and the enemy attack goes right through you. No stun, no chain stun, options for damage mitigation and/or avoidance and it lets you do something other than roll and pray in response to an attack.

    Or why not just combine both?

    What people hate about the current dBash meta is being powerless to respond (unless it's that stupid .01 second stun that everyone ignores) while they're being stunned. At least with a counter attack rather than a stun they're still free to act but they've taken some damage for their mistake. Fights end quicker (since basically one person does no damage and one person does less than maximum damage, at a bare minimum.)

    Clangs should also deal some damage, all with the eventual goal of getting melee fights over sooner rather than later.

    Dbash hit does FA damage/stagger, but doesn't stun. Add more travel distance to Dbash. Remove wallclangs. 90% of melee shitfest solved.

    Likely it'll be "dumbed down" to be more in line with Rangeds simplistic mechanic if "point and shoot".

    Thats all it is people! Anyone who has played Doom / Has used a mouse ever or was born in the 80's can do this, its not hard!

    And once again, simply holding down LMB and firing 333.33 rounds per minute or 5 rounds per second so much more spam than tapping RMB for 30 swings per minute at 2 swings per second.

    This game has absolutely become a brainless shooter clone, anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves to the detriment of EC.

    The simpler a mechanic is the better, less stuff to go wrong.

    Axe + Face = Profit. Please let it be that simple.

    None of this durability crap that ONLY affects Melee weapons with endless clang fests that ONLY punishes Melee. And the Dbash + LMB = Profit Ranged tactic. that needs to just fuckin go right off the bat.

    I do not believe melee is in a strong state, BUT

    My inner Emperor's Children fucking recoils at the idea, i'm a swordsman, when I kill I do it both to impress and to test the limits of my skill, I view melee...good melee...as an art and from an RP perspective indulging in viscous melee with grace and skill is one of the best ways to worship Slaaneth. Based purely on that, no, melee does not need 'dumbing down' and my every fiber is repulsed by the idea.

    We had melee in SM? Each time I played it was a LaserCannon cluster fuck. /s

    Joke aside and balance aside (power sword dealing as much dmg than a 2 handed power hammer lol) I liked SM's melee and "mod unlocked by challenge" system.
  10. This 100%.

    Intuitive melee mechanics that are fluid with outcomes that seem logical. Power Fists and Axes "clanging" off of knives and having 100% of all their damage mitigated by a puny knife is NOT a logical outcome. Axes and Maces being inferior to Swords in every way is NOT logical. Power Fist being regularly beaten by knives is NOT a logical outcome in a melee encounter.

    All of those examples are just about as logical as a Bolt Pistol having a 50/50 chance versus any ranged weapon at any range. That's basically what Melee fans have to put up with every single melee kill vs a ranged archetype.

    I think the problem started when someone @BHVR though it would be a really great idea to give Tactical(Shoota, Fire Dragon, Traitor, Swooping Hawk) type ranged classes a 50/50 shot of surviving vs melee archetypes when melee has a 1/10 chance with a Bolt Pistol vs a ranged class in a ranged duel. How could you NOT know that was going to piss off half of your player base that plays predominantly melee archetypes?
