Melee has always been inconsistent to me. It used to be very risky to play, but you could do very well if you knew how to get around. With the new wargear, melee has a lot of protection and staying power now. (And the infamous d.bash not correctly punishing mistakes from careless melee players is certainly not helping) I'd probably say that playing a jump pack character is just about the safest class there is right now as you have the toughness and mobility to get into multiple scraps and run away if necessary. It's incredibly frustrating to play against right now, but I'm not worried since it seems like the wargear and loadout pricing is still being worked out. Once the d.bash is also properly working (ETA 2099 or so I hear ), non-melee specialists will feel like they stand a chance again.
This. I wouldn't be so mad if at least Dbash worked and stopped the PF fast attack like it's supposed to, or any fast attack for that matter. Without it working, anything JPA (especially with a fist) is just cheesing. Oh and of course, fucking EVERYONE suddenly wants to be a JPA with a fist. The hell is wrong with people?
In TT the PF was balanced by being so slow anyone you attacked with it got a chance to hit you first (unless it was PF vs PF...). This one attacks too fast. The mitigating downside isn't present.
Played a shieldbro tonight for the first time in awhile after I kept getting killed on my apoth. At one point I had three kills on some heavys before getting taken out by a couple raptors. All I did was mash right click and that was it. I then tried out the heavy bolter, after unloading on a sorc I got one shot by his power sword. Ranged does nothing
