Melee doesn't seem to do what I expect.

  1. Could someone give me a rundown of how the interactions are supposed to work right now,
    and know bugs?
    Thanks.

Also for example, if I get the D-bash through, and the enemy has the staggered symbol, how should I take advantage of that? Have I time for a strongattack? should I use my pistol? fast attack? get behind the enemy.

What happens if I d-bash against an enemy only fast attacking? Do I gain an advantage? It seems like my kick part of the d-bash clangs with a fast attack.

How many hits (strong or fast) do I need against an enemy fully kitted for survival with my Scorpion?

Right now melee works on a rock-paper-scissor system where Light attack breaks Heavy attack which breaks D-bash which breaks Fast attack.
D-bash has 2 stages, a deflection stage and a stun stage. The "wind up" stage will deflect any Light Attacks and then kick or otherwise counter attack which, if it connects, will stun your opponent for a moment.
  3. Lunge attacks (light attacks made while sprinting or evading) currently cancel d-bashes. While they don't deal durability damage while doing this, I've found that the enemy has time to get a light attack in on you before you can start another dbash.

Lunge attacks also have more force, meaning that if you clang into a lunge attack your weapon will take even greater durability damage.

The bash portion (the kick/headbutt) of the dbash rarely does anything as of this patch I've noticed. There also seems to an issue with fast attacks dealing durability damage if the attacker is of a higher tier and hits the guarded portion. So depending on your weapon using a dbash is a time buyer at best, not a counter play. Check out 13:50 on this video:

From what I can tell, the Jump Assault only spammed RMB during that encounter. In return, I spammed dbash, with one light attack thrown in somewhere in the middle. The result was barely in my favor, and only because I managed to get poison onto him somewhere. Of course, all of this could simply boil down to Ork fuckery.

Most staggers only last long enough to get in a light attack. I think most people's first instinct is to evade after being staggered, so if the character doesn't have a jump pack you could try doing a heavy attack and catching them at the end of their roll.

As for a scorp, one heavy from stealth seems enough to OHK anyone regardless whether its a backstab or not. Stealth heavy backstabs definitely OHK anyone.

From the front, power weapons seem to be 3 hits for light attacks, or 1 heavy 1 light. Chain weapons I think are 4 lights or 2 heavies. As far as I know, you can't get survivability wargear to increase the hits to kill from power weapons. Maybe a certain toughness could push chain weapons into 5 light attacks to kill, but I don't know.

They do dura dmg.(around 20% dura on all weapons) They may do direct dmg through bash like heavies though it feels inconsistent. Throwing in fast attack is inconsistent and unintended

Just more on that: This can allow to outclang poweraxes with chainswords, tested and confirmed. Powerfist on lunge take down 95% dura of chainsword, so it still isn't 100%. Generally there is nothing you can do against an evade attack except from dodging it.

With rotation part of the bash its cool to block attacks from all directions by timely rotating towards them. While kick is not working completely 90% of the time, with ability to walk while charging bash you can avoid backstabbing by walking away from your opponent and exceeding their roll range.

Bash kick staggers looks reduced and you are not able to throw charged attack inside on all weapons. Also, heavy v bash stagger is not enough for fast attack 50% of the time on all weapons. There is a bug with dura break stagger not cancelling if you are being attacked with pf, which allows fister 2 hit you during dura break time without any ability for avoiding it.

Not dura build from front. Also, amount of stealth needed for that is uncertain

1 heavy 1 light is not enough for armored builds. And i am talking 1 backstab heavy 1 light for swords. 1 heavy 1 light is combo kill mostly for axes but it won't work on armored builds still. Toughness with armor pushes chainswords up to 5HtK from 3 basis.

    Continuing the post:

There is a system in place to prevent people from sliding past one another. This system disables momentum of your attack(glues you to your place) if someone is near you. This also includes friendlies attacking near you. So if friendly hits your back with melee, he does no dmg or stugger, but sucks your momentum, glueing you in one place. In most issues, this means that your attack will miss your target.

This issue makes heavying a fast attack completely impossible since you will be glued in the middle of your charge without hitting your enemy. This one makes heavies generally useless in ongoing fight unless you 100% certain that you are countering a bash spam.

Also, your evade attacks now always face your roll direction(and not your camera direction) unless you are backstabbing with hard lock on. At this times they should hit your enemies back without resistance.

Disrupt system does not work as intended right now: enemy is allowed 2-3 shots before he gets disrupted which means heavy injures or death most of the time you charge a character that is shooting you already.
  5. Thanks for the answeres, some followup questions:

With evadeattack, I assume you mean when you are locked on, and evade behind the enemy? Or can you do an evadeattack without a lockon?
(From a bit of testing in the garisson, it looks like the evadeattack is the same as a lunge attack? And it always goes in the direction I looked when starting the roll?) So does it behave the same as a lunge mechanically?

What does a Heavyattack do to you when you d-bash? Damage, stagger, or durability loss?

I will try everthing out a bit more and come back with new questions :D. Maybe even make a video :D

Of course you can. Evade attack is an attack directly after evade maneuver. Its faster(you can do it faster) and equivalent to a sprint attack in all other aspects, animation included. It is also called a lunge attack.

Pretty much all of it. Though i find stagger somewhat strange this days.
