Sure, and I have argued this many times myself. I was merely disputing your premise that "regular Astartes are Tanky", they are in some ways but not others. But yes, delicate balance indeed. Cutting yes, but thats why they also had Maces and Morning Stars, they went right through Plate Mail. No armor technology has ever outclassed weapons technology throughout the history of man. As soon as a better shield is invented, a better axe meant to cleave it in half is quickly invented. But I digress, most swords used by Knights were Piercing weapons meant for stabbing not slashing, or hybrids good at both. They would stab and stab looking for a chink in the armor, unlike most of the movies and such where you see Knights slashing at each other... that wouldn't happen. Aye.
The bash (now called parry?) has 2 phases: a wind-up and a kick. The kick comes out regardless of being hit. So if you just stand there, you will be stunned.
I have connected, a number of times, with a Dbash as an Ork and nothing has happened. The enemy was not using a strong attack, simply spamming weak attacks and they not only penetrated by Dbash but after a dodge and Dbash retort it did nothing. I've seen this a number of times. It feels like the Dbash range for Orks is about half that of other races.
Congrats to those that wanted a pure shooter, you got it. Melee is now a minor annoyance to ranged classes. Are we just wasting brain cells and our time giving feedback in this thread? -I dont see durability hits when clanging about 90% of the time I clang. I'm assuming this is why knives can almost endlessly clang versus swords, axes, and mauls? -Devastator weapons can endlessly clang versus proper melee weapons. -Knives are beating axes and maces(crozius arcanum) to the punch between each clang bacause the knife is faster. The Axe/Mace user is at a disadvantage vs the knife because clanging isn't happening, and thus breaking the knife on the 1st or 2nd clang, and the knife sneaks in hits between each clang. -Strong attacks are so slow you cannot beat a bash spammer. They either roll out of the bash wind up, or they just shoot you in the face as your winding up your strong attack with Axe or Mace or Sword. Game over . GG. I'm on the brink of quitting EC forever. -Melee's such a joke right now I can honestly barely stomach playing considering how melee classes and melee weapons have little to ZERO advantages over ranged opponents in close combat. Every EC game night ends early as a rage quit, because I know how well melee has worked in the past. -Strong attacks are interrupted by the bash. -Strong attacks aren't beating the bash -If you land a strong attack versus a bash, the loser of the RPS beats you to the next punch. -You gain nothing by landing a melee strike to the back of a fleeing opponent, in fact you LOSE F@#$ing GROUND because you're stopped in your tracks due to the melee animation, but the player running away continues to run away at a full sprint... are you @#$@! kidding me?! But... that's not a RPS system, is it? Or a RPS system where scisors cuts paper AND rock (and the well).
What's broken is the fact that if your opponent misses with the kick, and you retaliate with a fast attack to their flank or sides, they're still immune to fast attacks even though your hitting them from the side or over the shoulder. There's no delay of immunity to fast attacks between the end of one bash and the beginning of a follow on bash, so a player can endlessly spam bash and gain 100% invulnerability to all incoming fast attacks. This is great news. This means we finally found parity. All we need to do is fix the bugs as you mention and then scale it back towards Assaults having a decent advantage. What I hear you saying is "I am not getting free kills just for getting into Melee" and "I actually have to intelligently use RPS or Force to win fights now instead of Fast Attack Spam", good! Really not trying to criticize you again, you always seem to blow up in these threads. I also don't see how this isn't a good thing, it means Melee is almost balanced. Edit: Waaaait a sec.
