This was a great interview tbh. I really hope Miguel can follow through with having unique ideas for leadership on each faction. I.e. Space Marines would have election, Orks would have arenas, Chaos would have arenas and Eldar would probably have arenas too.
YAAAAAH!!! DIZ IZ 'OOW IT WURKZ FER ORKZ!!!!! DA ZMASHIEZT IZ DA BOZZ'O DA MOB! 'ND I MEAN TO ZTOMP TONZ'O GUYZ IN MA WAY TO LEDDARSHIP! EH EH AH!
voting makes more sense for Chaos. since when did Chaos challenge each other for leadership? they are not savages or simpletons like Ork that are straight forward in their thinking. Shut up Git Iz Da biggest dats why I iz Da boss! Orks believe in survival of the fittest hence they fight for leadership. Chaos leaders grow in power due to either being favoured by the gods or because they were at that leading rank when they committed heresy.
Da zog ya wunt ya li'l humie??? Zomp'outta ere if ya pizz yerzelf when ya're in front of a HUG ztorm boy!
Miguel said: I must say I'm pretty surprised by this. From what I remember the devs were against even picking up the weapons by the same faction members and now it seems we'll have cross faction 'weapon exchange', luckily only on the battlefield - that will eliminate the problems with different factions alt accounts mules etc. But still, I have very mixed feelings about this solution. On one hand it seems you'll never have any problems with ammo, cos when you're run out of it you surely will find some guns scattered here and there to use -that's cool. On the other hand it's not so cool as EC was supposed to be a game where you have to manage your ammo and be economic on all levels: personal and faction wise. Now it's no longer valid. Second problem, this solution may lead to serious problems with balance, eg orks are not supposed to use high tech weapons like plasma cannons. They are excellent melee killers and now they will also be able to wreck havoc with the best ranged weapons. heck, even within the same faction a melee specialist shouldn't be able to use devastators toys - that kinda makes classes idea useless. And the last but not least, the trolls will have another pretext to kill their team mates: 'what a nice heavy bolter you have brother, I would have to work for it for weeks, I hope the ammo is full on it, blam, blam, blam', I've seen too much of that stuff. I dunno, for me this info is a little shock as it contradicts what the devs had said before. Do you have similar feelings or is it just me? I hope they know what they're doing and that they will be able to balance all that somehow.
Good points, though the system sounds fun it might lead to quite a few issues down the road. One you missed is that basically each time someone dies he leaves behind an item within the game world, an item that needs to be rendered. That means if you kill 100 men there will still be 100 guns/swords/etc littering the field that still need to use the processing power of the servers. We dont know much about Pikko tech but id assume it stresses it as it would anyone else. Games dont leave corpses permanently on the fields for a reason, and while guns require less in terms of model resources it will still number in the hundreds or thousands of guns that need to be rendered.
From the interview: "The commander gives the newbie a mission that pops up on her screen, complete with rewards and XP set by the commander." I find no purpose in giving this option to change the amount of XP given. Any Warcouncil member that doesent put up the maximum amount of possible XP gain (if theres a scale from which he chooses) is to pardon the phrase an idiot. Cause it means his faction is growing in power slower than the rest of the factions, as they are smart enough to drown their allies in XP and unlock their full potential as soon as possible. So id say to not dabble in this power for the WC.
