Mark of Chaos

So, while I was playing CSM (I don't like CSM and my preference is Eldar > LSM > Orks > CSM) but I couldn't help but notice the lack of dedication to a specific Chaos God seems... weird.

I mean, don't get me wrong, the MoN is definitely grounds for a class based around a specific Chaos God, but it looks like it's only that one. Why not incorporate it into all of the classes? Something like you HAVE to specialize into a Chaos God for each class (not NOW, obv., but eventually) in order to play that class.

I mean think about it. Each class can have their own advantages and disadvantages based on which god they're equipped with. For example, a Chaos Sorcerer following Nurgle could have the Stream of Corruption as it stands now, since it has a feeling of pestilence to it. Tzeench could have something like bonus armor that stays with the character as long as the stream stays continuous. Slaanesh could have something that increases the damage the unit deals and its movement speed. Khorne could be a stream of milk that flows into the CSM's feeding apparatus, allowing it to soak into the Khorne Flakes present there.

The possibilities seem quite large for CSM here. I feel like there's a serious amount of possible customization that would be missing if all the classes were limited to weapon choices, except for the Traitor Assault, who get a direct Chaos God affiliation.

    Already planned.
    Njord-Halfhand likes this.

Could you link the stream that said that? I've watched all of them, but I can't watch them while they're live most of the time and watch the replay and I usually skip over stuff I don't really like (AKA Chaos).
  4. i dont have a link to source but they said many times that they want to have all chaos marks at launch

That's a lot of streams unfortunately, and I would have to link you to a lot to give you the different details. But there are also a lot of threads too(Like Djemos Sorcerer Thread.) that talk about this, and how god marks are planned to unlock spells at launch(3 per god, with 7 undivided.) the stream is actually one of those Nurglite spells. It's an accessory you equip, not a class, and it's only being baked into the traitor assault because it lacks any defensive measures like the shield.

There's other plans for wargear attached to marks as well. Such as Blight Grenades, Khornate Chainaxes, enchantments for Tzeentch, and combat stims for Slaanesh.

Right, but every one I've seen thus far is just a weapon or accessory. There has been no mention for "this build aligns with X god, so it gets Y benefit." The only thing I've seen is that they want to be able to incorporate every god into the game via weapons or armor. Is the difference between a Noise Marine and a Khorne Berserker just their weapons, or is it more in depth than that? I just thought it'd be neat if you choose a god via accessories or something and from there you got to choose the weapon/armor loadouts.

That's how you choose a god.

The Mark IS an accessory that unlocks wargear.
    Bogrol and Djemo-SRB like this.
  8. ^ Plus all the cult legions in a post launch free DLC! Noise Marines for all! :D

As Darthy already said, its planned to have all the God Marks available, the thread he mentions is this one but there are numerous other references.

Matter of fact, before they reverted the last patch, you could see that in your loadout panel you had a "Mark of Chaos" slot (in which you couldnt select anything, cause they arent currently implemented as accessories), so they are well on their way.
