Sure, sounds better than going one way or another with either removing global or keeping it up for shittalking. Options for the player are always good.
Nope, needs to be opt out or nobody will actually bother to use it. If it's buried in the middle, nobody will bother. Like how you didn't read the middle of my post. Thanks for proving my point.
193 hours here. Exactly 1 time have I seen what could pass as an insult of any kind in the form of a "your mom" joke directed at me, actually. I responded that given the time where I live, my mom was likely asleep. To which they responded, and I quote: Other than that it's been as you say, faction-style roleplayed comments, people asking if anyone else is lagging or seeing others teleport, people wondering what's killing them and others responding, people asking if others feel that melee is OP (has that ever changed?), people telling others to stop blowing holes in their tank or wondering how in the Emperor's name you got a Predator on the roof of a building on Pegasos etc. Not being able to communicate with the opposition is a real loss, especially when said opposition is Orks. Those boyz know how to keep things 40k.
I personally don't miss it at all. Sure there were a few times it was funny and we could have some fun smack talk going on but mostly it was just bitching about broken mechanics which you can do with your allies. Also cleans up the chat nicely so I can properly read a call out now. Must of been real annoying for the guys my guild played against when we spammed WAAAAAAAGH!! in the chat. And if I don't hear "DIE HERETIC/XENOS FILTH" again I will be a happy git. Seriously, could you at least be a little original with your taunts?
i read it im just open to that potential compromise ... i would prefer it on as well with opt out. But by all means knee jerk and show that internet savage .... im sure it will help you convince them you can haz allchat.
Voted yes. In regards to the quote by @BrentEllison , he's making vague generalized statements, half of which are outright false. If this is a lobby shooter (which it currently is), almost all lobby shooters allow communication between teams. If this is an MMO (which it is tentatively expected to become), I can't even think of any PvP-focused MMOs which prevent communication like that. The only close, possible example I can think of would be WoW, and that's a horrible example to follow.
I disagree with removing the option for some based on the actions of a few, particularly when a clear middle ground exsists and nobody has stated that there should be no moderation.
I'm glad it's gone. No more trash talking, no more "get gud" vitriol. Good riddance. Leave it up on UAT for testing. Other than that, since we have non founders playing on Live and some take their live experience quite seriously, cross realm chat has no place in a PVP game.
You do realize that those insults happen even more now cause they are literally there 90% of the time now when the match ends.
