The spread was added to prevent Lascannon sniping infantry and keep it as an AV weapon. Should've been added to the hipfire too in that case and left the "Burning Light" Lascannon untouched as that one's an anti-personnel variant.
I want Space marine lascannons. This is as bad a decision as Dow3's lascannons. The lascannon is already a very bad weapon. A: It has bad zoom. B: It takes an age to fire. C: It shows where you are to any competent enemy. D: Now zoom makes it even more inaccurate, wtf. I DEMAND SPACE MARINE LASCANNON THAT FIRES INSTANTLY AND GETS MORE ACCURATE WHEN FIRED WITH ZOOM! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!
I actually wouldn't be surprised if the difference is there because you used Mastercrafted Lascannon on your Chaos character. It won't be the first time when MC weapons behave differently than normal.
Lascannon Nerf was half the reason the Kannon was such a huge problem. You couldn't snipe it's big fat ass reliably anymore.
I've got a better idea. (read: an idea more palatable to the devs while still de-gimping the LC. Battery pack not included.)
I would honestly trade an increased warm up time if it had true accuracy. No other heavy weapon has this issue that I'm aware of. It's not like Multimeltas just randomly turn you the wrong direction to prevent you from killing infantry with it, and it is THE AV Heavy weapon. Besides, if the control on Lascannons is easily avoidable by just unscoping....all this is, is a trap for newbs who would have zero idea about this special snowflake mechanic.
Guy's Just remember you can also use a MC lascannon it has a much shorter lockon time .. totally worth the 100 extra LP if you ask me. Good competitor for burning light since it actually insta vapes the enemy instead of slowly burning him to death, while only having a slightly longer locking time , but still capable of damaging turrets and vehicles.
