Actually I am quite on topic. Op wants to know about it, you guys are talking about it and I am sharing my opinion.
You keep saying "it's a game it's a game" but I think you might've missed the point of the game... It has been stated, over and over again, that the purpose of this game is to give fans a chance of living out true warhammer40k warfare in an as lorefriendly and realistic way as possible; they want to make more of a simulation than just give the world another Battlefield or Planetside - there are already enough of those, now we want something else, something that feels realistic and logic within its own already established frames. Making an un-lorefriendly warhammer game is just straight up retarded basically, as you will have the hatred of so many diehard fans who been following 40k for 20 years or more. It's 2014, people should be able to acess good internet, if you don't then I suggest you move to somewhere you can; playing at 200-300 ping can't even be a fun experience so why do you bother? You make it worse for yourself and other players at the same time. And again, it's supposed to simulate TT in whatever way it can, and the oldschool hardcore TT player won't be bumrushers me think. The most people I have heard from are hateful towards zerging and want to play a tactical warfare game where they can win battles by outsmarting and outplaying their opponents, not crush them in a straight up "run at them boys!" fight. I suggest you go back and rewatch every interview and stream there is, because to me it sounds like yoou haven't really listened to what they have been relaying.
I totally agree. However it's hard to just stop mid-conversation if the other part keeps going :I I'm all up for cutting it here.
Good boy. Back to the topic please everyone, dont want Savij closing another thread now do we? Recoil should be saved for heavy weapons like heavy bolters, rapid fire weapons, but not tactical gear.
They have stated that their main influences were Planetside2 and SpaceMarine, the logical jump from there (and from what we have seen in the livestreams) is that is going to be a similar scale to Planetside while having a refined combat style from SpaceMarine. Block your ears and scream "lalala" as loud as you want but it isn't going to change the fact the game is going to be similar to both. I want bE to make a great game, I want this to succeed. I am willing to accepts some bending of the lore to make the game enjoyable so it doesn't die an early death. Look at all the unsuccessful 40k games, did they fail because they weren't rigidly following the lore enough or was it because they were shit games? Look at the successful 40k games, did they succeed because they followed the lore perfectly or was it because they were well put together games that made the most of the 40k IP? They are going to find stuff to complain about anyway. If they don't complain about how it isn't close enough to TT they are going to complain that it shouldn't be a direct copy of TT for balance. But here's the thing, I DON'T. I play on Briggs, I go to connery when I feel like embarrassing the americans and I only know my ping of the US east server because I checked recently purely to see how much worse it was than Connery. I live in Australia, I live very close to the city and with the best net I can get. Unless I actually move to America I won't be able to find a better ping in Aus. I am incredibly interested and excited for EC but I haven't gone and purchased a founders pack because I don't want my experience to be shit because the devs forgot there is a world outside of America and they don't all have access to high speed connections that the western Europeans can get. No maybe not but the majority of players that are going to keep this game afloat will be. Do not believe for a second that a game on this scale is going to survive on just the "hardcore TT player" because unless bE charge you amounts that even GW will go "wow dude, maybe lower the prices", the game will not survive. I don't think that you have any concept on the amount of people that is required to keep MMO's afloat and enjoyable to play. How do you outsmart an opponent when they aren't all under 1 rigidly enforced leadership structure? How do you use tactics to hold a base when your enemy outnumber 2 to 1? How does one stop a force the size of a zerg without themselves being zerg sized? How do you do all these things without having wild imbalance? What they have been saying is trying to make the fans happy, from what is shown it is going to much more closer to how I think the game will be.
well, I feel like somekinde of aim dispersion should be triggered after a shot, but it don't have to be that the screen is affected. For heavier weapons the view should go in closer to the shoulder and weapon, into semi-fps kind of, and there should be a more visable form of recoil as well as the dispersion. In all honesty I really like basically every weapon in Space Marine, Relic had a good feel for the 40k universe even if that game went a bit off the grid; but the weapons really had a good feel and kick to them, they felt as massive as they looked and playing devestators with either Heavy Bolter or Plasma Cannon was a delight.
There are so many answers I would have for all of the above stated, but as pointed out the topic is quickly derailing and as thus I shan't. If you really want to discuss this in deeper detail then I am open for a pm conversation or opening a new thread in a fitting forum
Create the thread, I'm awaiting the rebuttal. I don't get why we can't use the husk of this one still, but anyway...
