Black Templars? Em... now! The 4 chapters where annouceted thats 1, next the Black Templayrs dont have any psykers in there ranks (wich means less classes for them) and i think that 4 chapters are just fine, no 5'th is needed
Bleh, if they do have a vote for a fifth class it looks like BT will take it, and here I hoped Raven Guard or Salamanders might get some love.
You pathetic mule of indignity. Souless creatures such as yourself, whom sell your lives to become a pitiful pawn of Chaos - your words bear no meaning. As for the thread. I think it would be quite sad and disappointing, to not have one of the most unique and among the most popular SM chapters in-game. Black Templars are fierce close-quarters-combat zealots and would provide a very interesting alternative approach to in-game tactics. Think how factions also effect our play-style. We either adhere to the codex or adapt unorthodox but proven strategies and tactics; with everything we do. Dark Angels will be more passionate and unforgiving. They'll not easily accept defeat, but perhaps will choose more conservatively. Blood Angels are filled with rage and zeal: they will stop at nothing for victory. Ultramarines are the first in and will overwhelm the enemy with mixed tactics and versatile heavy infantry. Salamanders burn everything to a crisp and tend to get closer during combat. Just think how Black Templars would effect our play-style. We'd have players charging head first at the enemy with their Chainswords and power weapons. Not allowing even one enemy to escape unharmed. I think the main factions should be implemented with consideration for PvP effects more than anything else (obviously - but it's good to have a reminder). Due to this poll http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/favourite-of-the-4-announced-chapters.86/ it's probably unlikely that the Black Templars will be included upon release, but most definitely must be integrated sometime soon after. *Post has been edited - my apologies for the misquote.
Make war upon the Imperium of Man? What is it you think the Legions have been doing for the last ten thousand years? War does not end with a single victory or a single planet. It is an eternal creature that outlives men and their tiny triumphs." — Arzyn the Silencebringer, warrior of the World Eaters The World Eaters are one of the Traitor Legions of Chaos Space Marines who now inhabit the Warp rift known as the Eye of Terror in the Imperium of Man's Segmentum Obscurus. The World Eaters, originally known as the War Hounds, were also once the XII Legion of the twenty First Founding Space Marine Legions, and one of the first to betray the Emperor of Mankind for the service of Chaos and the Warmaster Horus. "Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer." —Captain Khârn of the World Eaters Legion's 8th Assault Company, from his unpublished treatise The Eighteen Legions Of all the Space Marine Legions created by the Emperor of Mankind during the First Founding, none were so savage and dreaded as were the World Eaters. For while others such as the Night Lords could justly claim to have brought worlds into Imperial Compliance through fear alone, and others such as the White Scars and the Space Wolves could descend without warning and leave a world burning in their wake, for the World Eaters to be assigned to a campaign meant only one thing for the enemy -- extermination. Extermination not by virus bomb or atomic firestorm, but by Chainaxe and Bolter, worlds drowned one-by-one in the blood of their inhabitants.
Well I was aware they are a traitor legion. I've also heard them mentioned several times in various fluff. Thank you for the elaborated description, though. Their Primarch was Angron. Whatever happened to him, exactly?
When the world eaters and word bearers did a combined assault on the 500 worlds of the ultramarines they drowned a dozen worlds in blood and made billions cry in anguish. Lorgar Primarch of the word bearers used this suffering to transcend Angron into a daemon prince. Angron was seen next at the battle of terra and then again at the 1st war for Armageddon. Since being banished by the Grey Knights at Armageddon he hasn't been seen.
