You are Jeffery Bullen, 3th son of Lord James Bullen. As a 3th son, you were in training to become a knight, until your uncle, Lord of Vinarious Keep in the Land of Easea, died. Unexpectedly you inherit his land, as he himself a 3th son, bequeathed it to you by telling Benjamin none other than you can tame the wilds around Vinarious, before leaving on a "walk" towards the swamps and never returning. You travel to Easea, a small lay on the western side of Telestoria and arrive to find a dilapidated keep, with a mere 50 peasants, 5 men-at arms and 4 "advisors". Land Assets: - 25 plots of turnips. - 10 goats - Lord’s Forest, with plentiful deer, rabbits and boars, and other forest creatures. People Assets: - 50 peasants - 4 Men-at-arms - 1 Men-at-arms sheriff "Advisors": - Benjamin: Your uncle's hunting buddy and friend. - Lars: Accountant, merchant and general manager of the place. Did most of the day-to-day running under your uncle. - Sir Phillip Doobs: Hedge Knight, in service of your uncle. Your cousin, of much lower rank. Newly knighted by your uncle on his deathbed, was uncle's squire before that. - Erec: Your oldest (bastard) uncle. Was a scholar for most his life, after being exiled from the priesthood for insufficient devotion. Speaks many languages. You are now Minor Nobility, and ambitiously have decided to increase your holdings. But first you must repair your hold and create some wealth for yourself. The locals know very little of the land surrounding Easea. To the East is Telestoria, the (much larger) nation of your birth. To the west is the troll swamps. The north is uninhabited stoney and poor farmland. And to the south is the Lay of Morellia. Preporod: You arrive, and are coroneted in a rather unimportant ceremony. Lars asks how you wish to organise your peasants. (Each plot of turnips gives half a unit of food each month, and required one peasant to work. One unit of food feeds five for a month. Goats need one goat herder for every 10 goats, can be milked, sold or slaughtered.) ******This is a test run and will go until it breaks. This is to fix mechanics and then I will rerun it after I have fixed some things have fun. I will try to up date frequently. Get Shit Done.
3rd - not 3th ^^ Okay here is what we do: #1 - Peasant order: - 1 peasant = goat herder (have him the goats just multiplying and milk them) - 10 peasants = hunters under Benjamin in the forests to learn hunting + to help him. - 5 peasants + the 5 men at arms = Training under Doobs to run patrols around the village, gain experience in fighting, etc. - 25 Peasants = woodchoopers in the woods - Remaining Peasants = Turnip farmers #2 - Finding Shit out Before our hunter-friend goes, ask him and all our other advisers after diplomacy / relationships / plans that were intended before we got lordship OOC: I played this stuff before... Resources are important!
(Here's what I'd do, yes i'm taking part and as such, will be making newb's mistakes.) 1.The peasants are doing 5 are being trained to be men at arms under Doob's eye. The other 5 men at arms are doing patrols. 1 goat herder(Just breading and milking for now) 25 turnip tenders (Need plenty of food to feed nations, armies, etc.) 5 are to be trained by Benjamin for hunting and as such, help him out. the remaining peasants are doing wood chopping. 2. Check on agreements, relationships etc that were current before James's death.
How you think I learned what the hell you need to do and think about? Believe me - stuff get's messy very quick and suddenly your to-do list grows somewhere between 10-20 different things! XD
OOC: oh don't worry it is hard to destory but gets choatic and I won't be showing the dice rolls but I will not baby you nor brutalize, just more magicy.
OOC: I think that was Rule #4 ; the babying stuff. And I guess you don't show the rolls because I know what they mean?
