Lootin'!

  1. Bar the off chance that Brent is not referring to Orks in this, it does mean that the dev team are thinking about lets the orks be able to loot the enemy vehicles. This is of course awesome on several levels.

But I'd like to know what you guys think about this. How do you suppose this will effect the war as a whole? How will the devs implement the mechanics? Or how hilarious this will be when nick people's stuff and what vehicles you hope to be able to be looted?

This sounds great I imagine as the space marine lines fall back they try to destroy any vehicles they can't take with them so the green tide can't have them
  4. I do love the idea that a campaign can be seriously affected by what amounts to trolling the other races. Forcing other armies to either keep their vehicles protected or destroy them if they can't take them, getting vehicles on the cheap rather than having to buy a full price one (though I totally expect looted vehicles to be inferior is some way), and using the looted, more heavily armored vehicles as cover to the rest of our forces.

Of course, it'd also be hilarious in just the fact that we can nick other people's stuff. In the middle of a massive battle, a terminator squad with some high level player disgorge out of their Land Raider to swing the fight into their favor only to find their own lascannons firing into their backs. Or using a looted wave serpent to get a loota mob into a place they normally can't and rain death on everyone else.

Though I guess that depends on how the mechanics work. I guess it could go two ways: Either the GTA way, where an ork Mek and/or Loota walks up to a vehicles (that probably has to be weakened beyond a certain point) and then maybe hack it ala battlefront 2 and now you got a loot vehicle. Or perhaps you have to wreck the vehicle, then scavenge the wreck (that way would make it harder to loot faster/tougher vehicles)

i prefer the second proposal(i dont want to buy a LR drive it to battle for a llota to kill me with it):)

Imma go GTA on that baneblade !
  7. Want to play any vehicle in game? Play orks, if it moves, expect orks to loot it.

I say we can loot any unoccupied non-ork vehicle, but it would cost us a small number of resources and there should be a "lootin' it boss" timer. Where the mek enters then a whole bunch of grots magicly appear and make the vehicle "orky". Then it has a small chance of becoming uncontrollable once looted, a.k.a sometimes the vehicle will just "move" on it's own outside of your control, you can still steer it though, would be funny.

It should be difficult to loot a vehicle. Perhaps the stronger/more expensive/more complex the vehicle is, the harder it is to loot. Still, it would be fun and extremely rewarding if you could pull it off, and possibly turn the tides. Looted vehicles should not be repairable though, so as to not be OP. For lore reasons, the mek doesn't comprehend the primitive technology of the humans :D.

  9. I think what it comes down to is mechanics of the game, like if we get enough parts, we maybe get a Armour vehicle bonus that adds a visual amount of Armour to ork vehicles. Or, the bonus could be something personal like crafting mats.

  10. I'm just imagining a broken down Fire Prism being dragged through the dirt by a team of Squigz while it fires some giant jerry-rigged energy weapon.
