Well since weapons are meant to be tougher to unlock and permanent once unlocked, then I doubt they could be looted, even by Orks. I think the stuff you could loot would mostly be different ammo types and maybe trophies (which could range from an Eldar ear to a SM purity seal, stuff that would look meaningless to other races).

GW2 bring with each update a big bug/exploit every month. With those updates you need to farm a lot of gold or buy ingame gems to get them, with stupid RNG chests. GW2 its an awful example. Skill deck is watered down, economy is a mess, devs ban at will and blame the players for their own faults, guides of new content are 5min after launch available 'cos betatesters filter and take advantage of the info. The ones that make GW1 great, left the development of GW2 'cos of some design decisions... and so on and so for.

GW2 is not definetly the game to look at.

  3. I couldn't disagree more, for their universe it works perfectly you can earn any special items via the monthly updates without spending a dime (I also think that GW2 is a much more interesting game than GW1, there is minimal grinding, do you remember ecto and obby shard farming in GW1? That was awful). Keep in mind GW2 isn't a large scale war/military simulator, it is a story driven MMO; the exact opposite of what Eternal Crusade plans to be.

I do agree however that merits/honors/decals should be earned on an achievement basis (i.e. you can physically can display your best achievements). Say you've killed 100 ork nobs you can get a medal as a spacemarine denoting that.

Just loot ammo? You could just have "bullets: you found some bullets buy they dont function in your weapon.. you must wait X Time so that the servitors can make it useable..." ... "Energy Module: you found a mystrious energy module... you must wait for X time blabla storey, to use it in your las/whatever" .. That gets around "eldar dont use x ammo" ... you just find "ammo" that over time...becomes the kind off ammo you need. "Msg: The servitors have finished modifying the ammo...+10rounds... ?? Like/dislike?

  5. I think you have a good idea, however, in a military simulation I think that people would rather focus on combat and taking objectives than looting ammo off the ground (not that there won't be any for that, they just don't want to make it arduous). They probably just have a crate and when you go near it you can get more ammo for your weapon like space marine, however these crates can disappear or become empty is they are not resupplied.

It might be a method of looting where you do loot trophies and what not, Farseer's Spirit Stone, Ork Head etc. But they are just stored in your inventory and when you get back to your ship you then get the Random Generator which converts them into fancy items you can use for your soldiers.

IMO GW1 achivements were more meaningfull than the ones on GW2 (You knew what you could expect from a "Hero 9" player, a "Gladiator 6", a "Lightbringer 8", or even a "60% cantha cartographer"), I just remember that one of the few PvE ones was "Dungeon Master", the rest, kind of expendable.

But I dislike achivements of "Kill X, Y times". Are like bad MMO quests. Hold on! I know that GW1 achivements were a grind fest, but you could get, lets say, Kurzick faction points doing different things, such as AB, doing quests, doing 2 battlegrounds or vanquishing maps. The only way to "Kill X, Y times" is killing X, Y times, what is utterly boring, and its more based on farming (forget GW1 PvE achivements now), that somethign else that could be linked with experience. Like "Cause havoc among greenskins", kills +1, capturing little BOs from +10 to +100, so in that way, everything you do, counts for it.

Or even better "Spread the word of the emperor", any xeno assist +1, kill +2, captures BO 10 to 100, vehicle, depending... land speeder =/= predator. So u can get a rank system based on how much you contributed overall to the faction instead of just being focused in just one kind of enemy.

The titles should be some kind of exclusive, not like the usual "You just login!" achivements. I would hate if everyone in my faction had a title pretty fast. It wastes its pourpose.

  8. Agreed, the merits should be awarded on particularly difficult feats, and if one is given based on kills. then make it something like 1000 for a merit of orc bane or something. (to be fair it will be easier to kill orcs :/ )

You couldn't be more wrong. What are fire prisms. What are sunrifles. What are scatter-lasers.

    I've a question that's somewhat related.

Using weapons left on the ground by corpses if you run out of ammo. Would it be possible to just pick one up and use it? Why not? They all have triggers right?

By lesser technology I basically mean anything not made by Eldar.
