Agreed. I would love to see a Godly level of balance that enables players to genuinely become Significantly more powerful than others who are just starting, yet still GREATLY allow wiggle room for those skillful beginning players to overcome them in a battle with smart, tactical AND still Intuitive play. Also, Yes. Loadout system needs a revamp. Either default max loadout value is too low, LoadOut prices for armor unlocks and halo's are too high, and the Vet system is also super Bunk at the moment. For all the work you put into unlocking them, I feel limited as a Veteran, and I feel just as vulnerable and no more capable than the preset Classes. I don't want to run around a battlefield tip toeing up to my Enemies as a SPACE MARINE, and at that, a F_CKING VETERAN, for fear I might waste my 1 of 2 lives as him. Like. Really? How can anyone think that's acceptable in 40k, and In friggn' general?
I think some of the load out costs don't really make sense anymore, I play chaos and I have a special melta for some reason (assume something to do with founder but never remember buying a chaos melta) which now costs 80 more LP than a standard melta yet doesn't have any difference in stats so I've not used it recently A master crafted bolt pistol costs 100 LP compared to the 50 LP for a standard bolt/smart pistol but considering the only time i'm likely to use a bolt pistol will be on a melee class why spend LP points on the rarely used range weapon (so in essence wtf was the point in opening/buying the box for requisition this item came in) Other than the chance of mods there doesn't seem to be a reason to try get better equipment as it means re-working all your load outs for a tiny/cosmetic gain
Yeah, it kinda makes sense from a "balance" perspective, but why would a guy be trusted to carry the chapter's most prized relic into battle but nothing else? and well, i don't really think balance would be affected that much because everyone would be able to carry extra gear, not just a few people.
If they re do the LP costs they also have to re do things like I frames, weapon stats, and item interactions. Even some classes are a little too strong right now that would only get worse if they were given even more stats and tools.
I made a thread suggestin' dat dey should make a PvE dat allows Veterans It'd give em a use uvva' den dyin' twice in a match and den yer dun wit' 'em
Well, no Shit. But what's the point in spending as much game time as we did to unlock them If they are Entirely Limited to ONE aspect of the game (As in, you can ONLY play them in the pvp matchmaking, which is ALSO very limited) ?! I acknowledge there will likely be new PvE Dungeons, possibly even PvE Raids? But the point is, either the increasing difficulty or diversity of Challenges within these dungeons SHOULD indeed allow a player to roll a limited use Vet, and I don't see why not. If the objective is good game feel, then enabling the player to feel more powerful in a tactical, resource limited sense, then they get that Good game feel while being forced to still be cautious and aware. And, Again, I agree with LucasDom in that if EVERYONE had a defaultly higher equipable Loadout value, then there wouldn't be any imbalance at all, rather there would be much greater room for customization and specialization with the tools you've unlocked, As YOU were talking about previously.
I can see the reason in this, but it is reason not based on what the game Will Ultimately Be, but rather it's unfinished and unbalanced state of development. And no, changing the Loadout cost by a simple percentage value for certain items (Specifically, armor unlocks, vet halo's and maybe only certain weapons by about 15-20% less LP's) I DEFINITELY don't think would require actually redoing the weapon and armor stat values as well. The only reason decreased LP cost is desired is to give us MORE access to our cool Tools and Utilities at once, Not nerf them to achieve maximum cushy accessibility experiences. We're friggn' soldiers of war, not chess pieces with limited mobility and rules based on our class. the Game can be extremely open ended in how you engage and become victorious in combat from ANY Class Matchup standing point (Unbalances aside, yet still acknowledged).
