There has to be some progression and reward for doing well in PvP. A system like DAoC/WAR's realm point system would work well. You get a certain value for each kill, after a certain amount of kills you receive a point that can be spent on abilities (increased range, better melee damage, damage reduction, etc.)

There has to be some form of leveling. Maybe not the same old hat "kill X amount of Y until the bar fills", but without a carrot to chase, this game will get really boring really fast for a lot of people.

There will be levelling but I believe the devs said that progression will be horizontal as in, not just powering yourself up

Totally agree with that, I'd say something like in Space Marine : each piece of new cosmetic armor is earned thanks to :
    - having killed x player thanks to a grenade,
    - having been killed by flames and a grenade while having been shot XD
    - ...

That would definitely be great, I'm against a leveling deeper (meaning building a bigger difference between players) that what you can find in PS2.

Last Stand mode in Dawn of War had this kind of horizontal progress, but as it turns out you cant beat it with only the basic options that are, IN THEORY, just as good as the ones you unlock.
  6. Kill count with perks and ability upgrade maybe? The more enemies you kill the faster you gain "points" the more perk slots you get, as well as you fight your favorite abilities upgrade as they are used, so you will need to think how do you want to play since the beginning, except for the basic skill like Swiping Strike. And as you gain increase in rank(?) you gain more perks(bollocks, almost turned EC into Space Marine MP).
  7. I imagine Veterans will have acces to more thropies, better looking armours, etc, etc.
Dont reckon anything gamebreaking will happen.
Mostly just unlocking different ways and tools to hurt and kill your enemy.

Relationship between "not" levelling and weapons unlocking system if there is one sounds interesting. I just hope that i won't see a melta/plasma festival. I also hope that (actualy more than hope) if there is a perk(skill?)selection (unlocked by levels) that it should be permanent. Shortly, you can play anything but are you are better in one aspect of your faction etc because of that. That would be great. Just a opinion though.

There will be requisition in the game, and the higher your reputation with your faction, the more requisition you get, giving you a ton more options. So I imagine that not only will you be able to perform well at more than just one thing, but you will have a bigger armory. The actual weapons, I think, will just be sidegrades, like say this plasma gun is more powerful, but overheats quicker, while this one is weaker, but has a higher rate of fire.

Same with armor and utilities, I think. And of course, this definately applies to cosmetics: the more requisition you have and the higher your position in the hierarchy, the more badass you look. So lets say you are a space marine who is a veteran of 5 campaigns (all victories) and are a member of the War Council, you might as well have access to Custodian Armor and that Bolter Lance thing of theirs, for example.

  10. I think it would be similar to What todays shooters have!
Like in Battlefield series, when you start the game you have basic loadout, and you can kill any other player no matter his levele, but if he is higher level, his gear will not necessary do more dmg but will be more optimised for his play stile.

    So lets go into theorising:
BF assault classs = tactical marine
his basic gun can be upgraded with longer barel or hand grip (longer range or less recoil)
Hand grenade can be switched to flashbang
As first skill item he can chose either a health pack or underbarell grenade launcher
Second skill is defibrilator or something (i forgot what, beta was short... :) )
    etc....
now just translate that to SM weapons loadout, and see what can be changed on each weapon,

Similar could be done with some kind of RPG skill tree, will you invest into some skill that gives you let's say 5% faster swing with your melee weapon or will you rather invest into 5% faster reload.

So if you think in that direction, i think it should be pretty close what the devs are trying to do!
and the devs said, you would have 2 weapon loadouts, one ranged and one melee.
