Melee is *srarting* to feel fair, except for Scorpion which is so easy it's almost criminal! Stealth and tankyness is a bit over the top.
If workshop finally arrives and the community can submit animations, suddenly it becomes viable to have directional-based melee, which would also open up for directional defense. Adding such would; allow for heavier damage being stopped without a need for a "weapon-breaking" durability system, as the act of picking the right direction to defend towards would be a skill-element requiring players to pay attention vs melee classes, rather than just RPS-based mirroring of attacks or counters create a system that could utilize hitbox-based damage-zones, where a quicker weapon might favor just getting more hits in on lower damage zones, but a medium speed medium damage weapon benefits more from "crit-zones", heavier damage weapons benefiting overall but preferring medium and high zones for chances of one-shotting with its slower attacks. Also an element of skill and player choice to build attack-approach from (particularly useful if more melee weapon classes were to be added through workshop, like spears and other thrust-based skewering weapons). Spam-attacks that are fast would be substantially weaker, and maybe open up for knives to be nerfed but at the same time add a larger use-field for knife-user vs knife-user fights. have shields able to be based on directional, so even when not "in use" it still has an angle of defense, varying up what angles are desired to attack from depending on if it's in "passive" or "direct" mode of defense add swing/hit-distance based on type of attack and angle used, how far it reaches create new sweeping style attacks or "attack combos" it's all gonna come down to workshop in the end, if we get the chance to submit animations, new weapon-classes could also be added, 2-handed weapons can be added and utilize sweep-attacks and power attacks more (or maybe a 360-swing attack hitting everyone around if none of them block the right angle etc) Just anything to do away with the RPS clang-war which is the current melee system
a weapon bash animation (bolter) need to change axe and sword animation (standard animation is ok for mace) or maybe BE should pay animator for 1 month and maybe workshop so many waste potential crusader helmet and laurel helmet mark 3 helmet with german spike helmet (nurgle inspire black legion)
Why do you want to remove the aimlock? Don't like it - don't use it. Remove speed differences? It's a total bullsh1t. Who will take sword in this case instead of fist? xD
Many ork players take klaw (fist) for their rocket class, for example. And now you have a choice between damage+impact and speed.
