Let's play EC Conquest-Hardcore match mode ala BF1 and BF4

  1. Since we're not really fighting over actual real estate on a world map which was the original concept for EC we dont need a defender or "owner" for each map. As a result there's absolutely no reason we shouldn't have Conquest match mode similar to what you can see playing Battlefield 4 or BF1.

-All capture points start as neutral

-Each teams starts out on opposite sides of the map with various types of vehicles.

-5 capture points minimum. Having only three CPS on a small map feeds the zerg and in fact encourages zerging vs encouraging tactical game play.

-Only playable on very large maps so all 5 to 6 capture points are spread out over a very large area. This kills the zerg and makes zerging nearly impossible. That's a good thing IMO.

-Tickets system based off of deaths + CP ownership like you see in Battlefield games. Timers RARELY IF EVER determine winner/loser so each match is 20 to 30 minutes minimum.

-Vehicles spawn at certain CPS. Bikes(4ok appropriate), Tanks, Rhino, Land Speeder. Vehicle types and locations vary per map and terrain.

-Alternative methods of getting around the battlefield. Drop pods(situational, occurs a few times per match on certain maps), "simulated" air drops for Jump Troops over certain areas of the map, Squad based spawning via teleport chambers that can be used a few times a match(long cooldown per player, only once or twice per match).

-"Handicap" feature that kicks in if one team is getting crushed/spawn camped after the 10 minute mark so those getting crushed have a reason to hang around(small chance of turning match around). This is debatable. It's okay in BF1 and has got a lot better since launch. This game feature didn't exist in BF4 yet I always had fun playing Conquest mode win or lose.

Give us the option to play Hardcore mode with no enemies rendering on minimaps, no silly health bars over enemy heads and no easy mode red tags over enemy heads.

We could modify a few of the largest existing maps to enable "Conquest" mode of game play by adding additional capture points(minimum of 5 total) and by making minor modifications to existing terrain.

Ghost in the Shell has a mode similar to this where you have to push the enemy back towards their final capture point. They could push back and had to drive you back. It was fun and could go back and forth several times. In the end, its a bit linear. Still, a fun mode.

I think it's not a bad idea. That Malvoy map in the files could work for it. Land speeders I don't see happening any time soon but bikes were planned anyway. I also want a vehicle-less close quarters underground map reminiscent of the tyranid PvE. Make me fight my enemies in a hallway!

Except for the handicap. The 41st millenium is not so forgiving.

Before the internet they called this tug of war. It was linear because you had a rope.

The sport where overweight nerds had an edge.

Most EC players should be 1st round draft picks in that game mode.

  6. Look at the game Verdun on steam for a rench war maps and game mode.
There is some nice idea easily portable in EC.

And with map this big, it's the occasion to try PvE interference with Tyranids roaming the map. So they finally get a better role. It would calm down zergin too as you have to expect opponent players and PvE opponent.

Despite new game modes being in the top 10 feedback we aren't getting anything in next 2 months.
This game is screaming out for conquest and conquest assault.

Reminds me of Skirmish from Dust514; 3-4 objectives that start off neutral, matches were won be either holding enough objectives (which were cannons) to destroy the enemy command carrier or by depleting the enemies tickets (which was 150 for each side) before they did the same to you. The MCC's would also be firing on each other, causing slow damage.

Zerg rushes were great for taking an objective but they were easily captured back when the rush moved on.
