    @NoiseMaker

    Considering Ivan Mulkeen is no longer working at bE does this mean that some of his "duties" fall on the audio team?
    To be clearer, while he was still employed he said he made a list of voice actors that would be possible candidates for hiring for voice acting sessions. Now that he is gone im logically assuming its more related to the audio department.
    If so, are there plans to tell us who the voice actors planned are at some point.

    Or heck even better, at one point present some of this voice acting to the community to hear the reactions?
    DoW2 really did good with their voice acting and choice of voice actors for example (the Chaos Rising crew, not the Retrebution one).

    I don't know. Like I said the stuff you would like to know will be decided way above me. I would of course like to have my say in the matter, and if I do I will let you know. Suffice to say Ivan and I spoke a number of times about casting and I have his list. But casting actors is a very high level item so at this point in time I have to wait and see.

    But, I will also point out that we have embarked upon a very interesting process for getting the VO right. Regardless of acting talent, audio wants to be sure to nail down all systemic VO and make sure that its tone, delivery, accent and intensity is dead on in the placeholders before we go to casting. This type of thing is not usually done in video games as the process is usually top down. Not on this game so far, afaics.

    Wow today was a really productive day. Mathieu has sorted out the surface flagging (there is still an issue between metal solid and metal grate, but this is not a biggie) and I got the initial capture point sound events ready so that programming can hook everything up. As well, I finally know, thanks to Mathieu, how to hook up the environmental animations correctly (you would not believe what it takes - thankfully once it is done, it is done).

    More news tomorrow.

    Can (some) explosions have a strong base note that will allow the user to experience the shockwaves through their speakers? Explosions are a big part of immersion to me.. just wondering if that's possible and if it's being explored.

    Yes! Absolutely.

    Are you in charge with the Razercomms thing? I mean the in-game voice chat that is supposed to make you sound like a marine/ork/eldar etc.

    The voice/comm/chat/headset thing is not actually an audio feature, believe it or not. EC Audio will be consulted to do QA on it once we get to that stage.

    Another very busy two days have passed. The environments have been getting some serious attention. I told you that surfaces are working, although metal-hard is still playing metal-grate for shell falls still, but now we have bullet impacts performing nicely and enviro emitters doing their job in the factory map (very noisy, lots of places for masked-audio work, if that is your desire). Menu buttons have also received a fair amount of attention as we now have faction distinct sounds for ISM, CSM and a generic Eternal Crusade set (although these might not be in for this week's Twitch). But the big issue, given the amount of feedback I have received, is that I managed to get some time to revisit the Bolter fire sound and it is beefier for the Player (not for the other players (Proxy) just yet-I will try to explain the Player-Proxy system some other time). If the audio does not get muted this week you might hear the new Bolter sounds ;-)
